“Brother-in-law?” Zhou Yi frowned, looking utterly incredulous.

“When did this happen? Your brother didn’t have a girlfriend.” Zhou Yi said as he stood up, grabbed two bottles of beer from the fridge, walked back into the room, and tossed one to Wen Moci. Wen Moci caught it, sat up, popped the tab, and took a swig.

Zhou Yi sat down beside him, drinking his beer.

He chuckled at what he heard. “No wonder you ran to my place—afraid your brother would find out!” Zhou Yi turned his head to look at him.

“Look at you. So, did you clear things up?”

Wen Moci nodded.

“Your brother didn’t give you a beating?”

“No, but he asked me a lot of questions about my sister-in-law’s past.”

“Look at you, all pathetic—already calling her ‘sister-in-law’ left and right.” Where was all that determination from when you were chasing her?

Wen Moci sighed. “What else am I supposed to call her? The marriage certificate’s already signed.”

“Your brother sure moves fast—already got her home.” He laughed after saying it.

“What are you laughing at?” Wen Moci looked at him, baffled. What was so funny?

“I finally understand what they mean by ‘good fortune never flows to outsiders’~” Zhou Yi gave Wen Moci a strange look.

“Get lost.” Wen Moci kicked his leg, telling him to stop talking nonsense.

“Hey, speaking of which, why did my sister-in-law get the marriage certificate with my brother so quickly? What did she see in him?” Wen Moci’s eyes betrayed his uncertainty. His brother was great, sure, but he wasn’t bad either.

“Are you brainless? Every woman in the city wants to marry your brother. You think Senior Sister is stupid enough to pass that up?” Zhou Yi scolded him without any real reason. Strangely enough, this time Wen Moci didn’t fight back—their bond was forged through brawls.

Wen Moci glanced at him, snorted, picked up his phone and tapped it a few times, finished off his beer, then flopped back onto the bed. He turned his head to look at him. “Stop studying. It’s break already—go out and have fun. Go play ball. Come on, let’s go.”

With that, he dragged Zhou Yi out the door, not giving him a chance to refuse.

Wen Group

“Hey, did you see the little girl in the president’s arms? She looks so young.” She had wanted to get a look at the girl, but the president had her bundled up so tightly that she couldn’t see anything.

“I saw her. Do you think she could be the president’s wife? Quick, quick—ask in the group chat.”

The company group chat exploded instantly. Within ten minutes, the entire company knew their president had carried in a little beauty.

And the person in question was sleeping soundly, completely unaware. When they arrived at the company building, Wen Yu saw she was sleeping soundly, so he didn’t wake her—he carried her inside.

He brought her into the lounge of the president’s office, laid her on the bed, tucked the blanket around her, and went out to work.

Once out of Wen Yu’s embrace, Ning Weiying woke up after a while. She looked at the unfamiliar room and felt a sudden surge of fear. Without even putting on her shoes, she ran out and flung open the door. Seeing Wen Yu, she ran straight toward him.

“What’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare?” Wen Yu wrapped his arms around his precious girl who had rushed into his embrace, asking with concern.

But Ning Weiying just shook her head, burying her face against him, staying silent.

“Scared?” Wen Yu leaned close to her ear and asked, his voice so soft he was afraid of startling her.

“Mm.” She nodded gently in his arms.

Wen Yu tightened his arms around the person in his embrace, gently patting her back to soothe her. He picked up a glass of water and brought it to her lips. “Drink.” This girl hadn’t had much water all day—just a few sips during lunch.

Ning Weiying obediently drank, but just as she finished, someone knocked on the door, startling her so much that she choked on the water. She coughed a few times before leaning against Wen Yu’s chest to catch her breath. Wen Yu placed his hand on her back to help ease her coughing. This girl—how could she even choke on water? Only after she felt better did he allow the person outside to come in.

“President, there’s a document here that needs your—” Before the man holding the file could finish speaking, he froze in place as if struck by a spell. What was he seeing? In the President’s arms, there was… a woman!

“Bring it here.” His tone was somewhat displeased. Wen Yu noticed the man staring at his precious treasure and felt annoyed. He signed it quickly and handed it back, the message clear—he wanted the man to get out fast.

Receiving the President’s look, the man immediately took the file and turned to leave without any hesitation. After closing the door, he let out a heavy breath, then walked to his own desk. Before he could even sit down, a crowd gathered around him.

“So? So? Did you see her or not?” A bunch of people chattered in his ear. After sitting down, he said, “She’s pretty, alright, but she looks a bit young.”

“I told you so—she looks like a college student who hasn’t even graduated yet.”

“If that’s the case, does that mean our President is an old cow eating tender grass?”

“So, is she our boss lady or not?”

In an instant, the office was filled with discussion. “What are you all doing? It’s work hours—get back to work.” Chen Yan’s voice rang out, and the office fell silent instantly. After all, he was the President’s special assistant; they couldn’t afford to mess with him.

The employees all returned to their seats and got back to work. Just as Chen Yan was about to leave, a voice called out to him, “Yan-ge, is that our boss lady?”

Chen Yan turned to look at them, each one staring at him with gossip-filled eyes. “From now on, address her as Madam.” With that, he turned and left, not bothering to see the shock on their faces.

“What time is it now?” Ning Weiying played with his tie while nestled in his arms. She felt like she’d slept for a long time.

“Almost five. We’ll head home in a bit, alright?” Wen Yu glanced at his watch, and seeing that she was truly bored, he handed her his tablet to play games. He’d assumed the young girl would download some mobile games—after all, girls her age usually liked those—but instead, she downloaded Happy Match and was playing it quite happily. Wen Yu left her to it and focused on his work.

After playing for a while, Ning Weiying grew bored. Maybe she’d read some comics instead. She quietly looked up at the man working. Good, he wasn’t paying attention to her. Hehe, time for comics (><)

Wen Yu finished his work and glanced at his watch—it was almost six. He looked down at the little girl in his arms. Why was her face so red? Ning Weiying was still immersed in her own little world at that moment. Wen Yu snatched her tablet away—what was this little girl looking at?

Ning Weiying froze for a second, then immediately tried to grab it back. She’d been enjoying herself.

Wen Yu took one look. What on earth was this? Two men… How old was she? Why did she like this kind of thing?

“Give it to me!” Ning Weiying reached up with both hands, trying to snatch the tablet. Seeing this, Wen Yu held it higher, keeping it out of her reach. Who would have thought the little girl would get so desperate that she braced her hands on his shoulders and tried to stand up on his lap? Seeing this, Wen Yu quickly tossed the tablet aside and reached out to steady her, pressing her back down onto his lap.

Ning Weiying couldn’t move anymore. She looked at the tablet on the floor—the screen was shattered, and so was her heart. Wuwuwuwu.

Wen Yu watched her wilt completely and felt both amused and exasperated. To think she’d be this upset just because he wouldn’t let her read comics—if that was the case, she’d probably cry herself to death tonight.

“What’s wrong now, my little ancestor? I’ll let you watch tonight, okay, hmm?” Wen Yu coaxed his little treasure in a low, gentle voice.

“Little kids shouldn’t keep looking at that kind of stuff.” Wen Yu’s tone was soft and tender, but to Ning Weiying, it sounded like a scolding, and she immediately turned her head away, ignoring him.

Seeing that the little girl was unhappy, Wen Yu quickly tried to smooth things over. “How did you become such a little grump? How about I let you watch when we get home tonight, okay?”

Ning Weiying nodded, though she felt like something about that statement was a bit off.

“Are you hungry? How about we go home and eat?” Wen Yu interrupted her train of thought.

“Okay.” Ning Weiying climbed down from his lap to put on her shoes. Time to go home, time to go home!

It was only then that Wen Yu noticed she wasn’t wearing shoes. He grabbed her arm. “Why aren’t you wearing shoes?” His tone was a bit harsh, and the little girl’s body visibly flinched. Wen Yu thought he had scared her, so he quickly pulled her into his arms and held her close, lowering his head to whisper softly by her ear, “Did I scare you?”

Ning Weiying didn’t answer him, only murmuring quietly, “I forgot.”

Wen Yu picked her up and carried her into the lounge, putting her shoes on for her. He looked up at her—she still seemed to be in a daze, her eyes vacant. Wen Yu patted her little face. “Baby, come back to me.” Then he hugged her again and kissed her little cheek.

“Time to go home.” Wen Yu took her hand and walked out. He had wanted to carry her, but she insisted on walking by herself, so Wen Yu had no choice but to indulge her.
