Origin

The priest applied the animal hide covered in herbal paste to the wounds on Lang Zhan’s side, simultaneously placing his palms on the hide and chanting incantations. A faint green light emanated from his hands.

Upon listening closely, Bai Lou realized speechlessly that the priest wasn’t chanting any profound incantation, but rather a prayer, beseeching the Beast God for protection and blessings.Full novel: The Kitten Was Coveted by a Wolf King — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The green light was likely wood-elemental spiritual energy, which the priest was using to enhance the vitality and medicinal properties of the herbs, thus improving their healing effects.

Having stopped channeling his spiritual energy, the priest seemed somewhat weary. He picked up a vine and bound the animal hide and herbs to Lang Zhan’s body.

After treating all the major wounds, the priest wiped the cold sweat from his face and sighed softly. “Your injuries are quite severe today, and you returned even later. Did you venture deep into the Beast Forest?”

“No, I was still hunting on the edge, just a bit further than usual,” Lang Zhan said, pulling his right hand back from the stone table and moving it as if to test how much his injury had improved.

The priest quickly grabbed his arm, scolding, “Don’t move! You’ve broken a bone this time, and you dragged heavy things all the way. This arm can’t be used for at least three days. I’ll see after three days. If you don’t listen, you might ruin your arm.”

Lang Zhan frowned, but before he could say anything, the priest glared at him. “You’re giving me attitude? Who told you to go into the forest? Didn’t we agree to stay near the entrance?”

He glared angrily at Lang Zhan’s arm, saying, “If you don’t rest properly and ruin it, what will happen to the Wolf Tribe? Will Tu be left to carry the load? Has he been weaned yet?”

Lang Zhan was speechless. This old man was unreasonable. Who gave him attitude? He hadn’t even said anything, yet he was being scolded.

The priest, being an elder, didn’t bother arguing. Lang Zhan shifted his gaze to the cat crouching on the ground.

Bai Lou quickly averted his amusement, staring intently ahead as if contemplating a momentous event.

The priest was used to Lang Zhan’s cold silence. Lang Zhan wasn’t one to court death, he’d said what needed to be said, and Lang Zhan would comply.

His gaze then fell on Bai Lou. The long-haired white cat sat there with its front paws together, and its long tail wrapped around them, looking quite docile.

After a moment’s thought, the priest said to Lang Zhan, “Although it’s a bit small, it certainly doesn’t look like a cub.”

Bai Lou was somewhat annoyed. It was a lion cat, considered large for a cat. Yet, having come to this world full of giants, it was suspected of being a cub.

Lang Zhan nodded slightly and asked the white cat succinctly, “Name, origin, and how did you end up in the Forest of Ten Thousand Beasts?”

Bai Lou glanced at him, its paws twitching uneasily, and it meowed a few times muffledly.

“My name is Bai Lou, from the White Cat Tribe. I don’t know how I ended up in the Forest of Ten Thousand Beasts.”

It carefully recalled the dinosaur images and pictures it had seen before, and described, “That day, a dinosaur with wings and a long snout attacked the tribe. I passed out, and when I woke up, I was in that tree.”

Lang Zhan and the priest exchanged a glance. They hadn’t heard of any White Cat Tribe nearby, nor had they ever seen a cat like Bai Lou.

To be honest, given Bai Lou’s small size, Lang Zhan simply didn’t believe it had gotten into the Forest of Ten Thousand Beasts on its own. It wasn’t just wind dinosaurs there, various birds and giant pythons were common, and trees weren’t safe either.

Not to mention the Forest of Ten Thousand Beasts, it can’t even get through the outer Green Wood Forest. However, it’s somewhat possible that it could capture a Pteranodon and use it as food.

“Is it on the Azurewood Continent? What’s it like there? Is it the same as here? We’ve never heard of the White Cat Tribe, it must be very far from here. Can you still find your way back?”

A barrage of questions poured out of the priest’s mouth as he was genuinely curious. From ancient legends and occasional hearsay, the Beastman Continent was vast, but also extremely dangerous.

A tribe typically only operated within a radius of one hundred li (approximately 50 kilometers), referring specifically to beastmen who went hunting, females rarely ventured far. Aside from marrying into the wolf tribe after leaving the fox tribe, the farthest the priest had ever been in his life was the beastman market, seventy li away.
