The driver slapped his thigh. “Hey, what a coincidence! You two are going to the same place—just ride together.”

Yun Shu was surprised—this person was actually going to the same place as her.

“Driver, could you help me with my luggage? It’s too heavy for me to carry.”

“Sure, wait right here.”

“I’ll do it,” the man said, getting out and lifting Yun Shu’s suitcase into the trunk.

“Thank you,” Yun Shu whispered.

“You’re welcome.”

Yun Shu got into the back seat and closed the door. Once both of them were seated, the driver started the car and drove out of the airport.

Yun Shu looked out at the unfamiliar streets—this would be her new home from now on.

A strange sadness rose in her heart, and she gently pressed her hand to her chest, trying to push down the ache.

“Master, don’t be sad. I’m here with you,” the system said, sensing her emotional shift and offering comfort.

Yun Shu silently replied in her heart: Thank you, system.

The car soon arrived at 28 Yulin Road. The man got out, helped Yun Shu take her suitcase from the trunk and placed it at her feet. After paying the driver, the car drove off.

“Uh, thank you… how much was the taxi? I’ll pay you.”

“No need,” the man said without even looking at her, striding quickly toward the apartment building.

Yun Shu pouted and looked up at the apartment—about twenty-something floors. She pushed her suitcase toward the entrance and walked inside.

She took the elevator to the fifth floor and pressed the button.

On the fifth floor, she used her key to open the door. The living room wasn’t very large.

She took off her shoes at the entrance and put her luggage in the living room, which had a TV, sofa, and coffee table.

She moved to the bedroom, which was also small and simple, containing a bed, a wardrobe, and a dressing table.

Across the hall was another room with the same layout.

Observing the entire apartment, she realized it had two bedrooms, one living room, one bathroom, and one kitchen.

Although it wasn’t as spacious as the room she had at the Yun residence, it was more than enough for her alone.

She chose one room as her master bedroom, moved her suitcase inside, and neatly arranged her clothes in the wardrobe.

After finishing all this, she was panting and exhausted.

Her body was still too weak—just a little activity left her unable to cope.

The bowl of porridge she had eaten in the morning had long since digested, and she felt very hungry.

Taking her keys and phone, she went downstairs to find something to eat, unsure if there were any good places nearby.

After walking along the street for a while, the sun made her dizzy, so she stepped into a nearby wonton shop.

The place looked clean, and she chose a vacant table. She ordered a bowl of wontons.

When the dish arrived, the bowl was full—too much for her small appetite.

She forced herself to eat ten or so, but couldn’t finish the rest. She asked the shop to pack it for her to take back, hoping she could eat some for dinner.

Perhaps because it was noon, the streets were nearly empty. Yun Shu, feeling uncomfortable in the sun, didn’t wander and returned directly to the apartment.

In the afternoon, she didn’t go out. Dinner was the leftover wontons from lunch.

She couldn’t cook—she was used to a life of luxury where meals were served to her.

So she wanted to see if there were any restaurants nearby that delivered, so she could have meals sent home daily in the future.

That night, Yun Shu slept uneasily, dreaming strange and bizarre dreams.

The next morning, she woke up feeling weak and listless, her complexion paler than ever, lips completely colorless.

After freshening up in the bathroom, she sat on the sofa and pulled out her phone to order takeout.

She didn’t have the strength to walk down to a restaurant today—she would wait until she was a bit stronger.

Half an hour later, the food arrived. It didn’t taste very good—too oily.

She picked at a few bites and gave up, leaving the rest aside.

She lay down on the sofa, closed her eyes, and tears ran down her face.

The system grew anxious. “Master, Master! You have to cheer up! I still need to accumulate energy to return to the stars.”

Suddenly, the system transformed into a small white kitten and landed on the floor.

“Meow~” The system looked bewildered. What was happening? It had a form now? And as a tiny kitten? Its grand mecha body had turned into a cat?

It couldn’t accept it and tried hopping around to transform back into its mecha form.

“Meow~”

Hearing the meows, Yun Shu thought: Since when did a cat get into my house?

“Meow~”

“Eh? There’s a kitten here? Cat, what are you doing here? Where did you come from?”

“Meow, Master, I am your system.”

“Ah? Weren’t you in my mind? How did you become a kitten? You even have a physical form?”

“Meow~ I used to be a 1.8-meter tall mecha in the stars. Maybe because my energy is low, I can only take the form of a cat.”

“Pfft, that’s so cute!”

Yun Shu reached out and picked up the kitten, holding it in her arms and gently stroking its head.

“System, you’re so cute.”

Seeing her no longer sad, the system sighed. Well, let her cuddle me; as long as she’s happy, that’s fine.

It really had a hard life—having to comfort this fragile human, ruining the grand image of its star-faring mecha self.

“Do you want to eat?”

Animals would need to eat, right?

“Meow~ Master, what does food taste like? Like engine oil?”

Yun Shu picked up a grain of leftover rice and put it near the kitten’s mouth.

“This is rice. Try it.”

The kitten licked the rice off her finger and chewed.

It had no taste, very plain.

“No taste at all… not as good as gasoline.”

“Eh? You want to eat gasoline?”

Yun Shu stared at the kitten, shocked it wanted gasoline.

“I don’t need gasoline right now, Master. As long as you collect favor points, I have energy. Energy is my food.”

Luckily, she wouldn’t have to feed it gasoline—she wasn’t sure she could afford that.

Gasoline was too expensive.

“So… will you always stay like this?”

“Meow~” The system twirled on the floor, seemingly unable to transform back.

“Never mind if you can’t change back. You look good like this; I really like it.”

Yun Shu picked it up again. “Are you male or female?”

This question stumped the system—it was a star mecha, and they didn’t have genders.
