Zhao Yinuo sat there with a blank expression, staring dazedly as the doctor treated her wound and the nurse drew blood for various tests.

Meanwhile, the man stood there with a stern expression, issuing orders without the slightest hesitation.

“Use the best pain relief available.”

“Make sure it doesn’t leave a scar.”

Compared with Zhao Yinuo’s stunned bewilderment, the hospital doctors were clearly used to situations like this. They took the matter seriously, but their movements remained calm and relaxed.

Faced with the man’s unreasonable demands, the doctor calmly replied, “President Lu, don’t worry. This lady’s wound will heal by tomorrow. It definitely won’t leave a mark.”

It was an extremely tactful way of putting it.

The truth was, if they had arrived any later, the wound would probably have healed on its own.

Zhao Yinuo was still staring blankly when the words “President Lu” reached her ears. Her eyes instantly snapped back into focus.

She suddenly remembered that this hospital, located very close to Shengxing Entertainment, was a private hospital. Many of Shengxing Entertainment’s celebrities came here for treatment because of its strict confidentiality. There had also long been rumors that the hospital had ties to Lu Chi, the boss of Shengxing Entertainment.

With that realization, Zhao Yinuo immediately asked, “Are you President Lu Chi?”

The man nodded arrogantly.

“Mm-hmm~”

That’s right. He was none other than Lu Chi—the man blessed with both looks and talent, with an impeccable family background and abilities that were second to none.

He was already being so low-key. He rarely even showed up at pointless social occasions. Yet somehow, he was still this famous.

As expected, truly outstanding people were like gold—they simply couldn’t hide their brilliance no matter how hard they tried.

Thinking of this, the corners of Lu Chi’s lips slowly curled upward.

He really was too perfect.

Zhao Yinuo looked at him, her gaze drifting.

So she had just taken the boss of Shengxing Entertainment away from the scene. Then who was Tang Wan waiting for back there?

The main character was gone. Wouldn’t Tang Wan basically be left putting on a one-woman show?

The thought of Tang Wan’s plan to find a new company going up in flames made Zhao Yinuo’s head ache.

Sensing Zhao Yinuo staring at him, Lu Chi suddenly put on a serious expression.

“Hey, don’t tell me you’re falling for me again.”

“No.”

Zhao Yinuo hurriedly lowered her head and looked away.

Then she asked, “President Lu, aren’t you going to have the doctor examine you?”

“No need.”

Lu Chi refused without the slightest hesitation. He had only had a little to drink. There was nothing wrong with him.

No need?

Zhao Yinuo couldn’t help sneaking another glance at him.

Considering how extravagantly Lu Chi handled everything, she had suffered nothing more than a tiny scratch, yet he had summoned an entire team of doctors to treat her. If something had actually happened to Lu Chi, there was a good chance the entire hospital would have been mobilized for him.

Zhao Yinuo was now completely certain that Lu Chi’s drunkenness had been an act.

He had deliberately babbled nonsense in front of her and Tang Wan. The whole thing had been nothing but a performance.

But why?

Why pretend to be drunk? Why pretend he had been drugged?

Zhao Yinuo couldn’t figure it out.

Did he simply have a particularly strong urge to act? If so, why hadn’t he become an actor?

Since she couldn’t make sense of it, Zhao Yinuo decided not to bother.

She simply said, “As long as you’re fine.”

Her easygoing attitude somehow made Lu Chi feel a little embarrassed.

Zhao Yinuo’s original reason for bringing him to the hospital had genuinely been to get him medical attention. She simply hadn’t known that he was President Lu at the time.

In other words, he had taken advantage of her good intentions.

Lu Chi pulled out a check and asked her, “One million. How about it?”

“One million? What are you trying to do?”

Zhao Yinuo’s entire body tensed, and her heartbeat immediately accelerated.

She had heard plenty about Lu Chi.

There were rumors that his background was connected to the underworld and that his hands weren’t exactly clean.

Sure enough, you really shouldn’t get into a stranger’s car. It was too dangerous.

But with so many bodyguards watching her at the time, she hadn’t exactly had a way out…

If she died, Su Muyang should be able to avenge her, right?

Her heart pounded violently in her ears, and every nerve in her body was stretched taut.

“One million. Consider it a reward for bringing me to the hospital.”

“What?”

Her emotions went from one extreme to the other like she was riding a roller coaster, plummeting from the highest point straight down to the ground.

She felt like she had just survived a disaster. Her heart was still racing, but suddenly there was nothing for her emotions to latch onto. Her mind went completely blank.

“One million isn’t enough?”

Lu Chi’s smile faded.

“Then name your price.”

Zhao Yinuo slowly let out a breath and gave an awkward laugh.

“No, it’s fine.”

She wasn’t short of food or money. A million yuan wouldn’t make much difference to her. It was better to preserve a little goodwill between them so that she could negotiate future opportunities with Shengxing Entertainment on behalf of her artists.

She never expected Lu Chi to casually give her a million yuan over something so trivial.

Maybe she was just too poor and had too narrow a perspective. She had scared herself for nothing.

Thinking about it carefully, there was no reason for Lu Chi to suddenly hurt her. After all, before doing anything to her, he had gone so far as to bring an entire team of doctors to treat a tiny scrape on her arm.

Zhao Yinuo lowered her head and looked at the carefully bandaged wound on her arm.

She silently reflected on her own assumptions.

She shouldn’t have believed the rumors outside and thought the worst of Lu Chi. In fact, he seemed like a pretty decent person.

She had never had anyone make such a fuss over her because of such a tiny scratch before.

Sure, his reaction had been so ridiculously over-the-top that she had practically wanted to curl her toes into the floor from embarrassment. She hadn’t even dared look at the doctors because she was afraid they would laugh at her.

But deep down, she was genuinely grateful.

From the bottom of her heart, she said, “Thank you. And I don’t mean thank you for the million yuan. I mean thank you for bringing me to the hospital.”
