The silver ash didn’t behave like normal dirt.

It felt cold, violently, abnormally cold, as it swirled up around Roxanne’s shins, hissing like frozen carbon dioxide.

The silence of the Graveyard of Failed Narratives pressed against her eardrums until they throbbed, a stark, terrifying contrast to the roaring sirens and exploding trains they had just escaped.Full novel: The Villainess and Her Bimbo System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“System?” Roxanne called out internally, her voice tight.

“Hey, bimbo, you still there?” [H-Host?!

Oh my goodness, the vibes here are totally horrible!] the System squealed, its voice flickering with heavy distortion.

The usual magenta pop-up boxes were pixelating at the edges, bleeding into a dull, melancholic grey.

[My shipping radar is getting totally jammed by local frequencies!

It’s like…

like these grumpy dead ghosts don’t even believe in the ultimate power of a fated office-romance-turned-isekai-harem!

But don’t worry, my lovely girlie!

True love always finds a way!

We just need to give Julian a massive, tearful wake-up kiss to break the curse!] “I will break your virtual face before I kiss a mutant,” Roxanne growled under her breath, her eyes locked on the terrifying silhouette forming twenty yards away.

The silver sand was actively swallowing Julian.

The four crystalline green wings on his back thrashing against the gray void looked less like a majestic celestial form and more like a beetle pinned to a board.

The hollow, multi-layered chorus of thousands of forgotten voices echoed from the shifting cocoon: “The heroes have arrived.

The world must be burned.” “Malakai,” Roxanne muttered, her hand twitching as the gold and pink light of the Royal Key beneath her skin pulsed irregularly, fighting the ambient chill of the plain.

“Tell me you see this weird-ass shit too.

And what heroes it’s talking about?” Malakai didn’t answer immediately.

He had dropped to one knee in the ash, his right hand buried deep in the silver sand while his mutated, feathered left arm twitched violently.

The black plumage was stable, but the green rot lines had turned a pale, ghostly blue under the influence of the local environment.

“The shadows here…

they aren’t mine, Roxanne.

They don’t belong to the shadows.

They’re…

empty.

Like something that was drawn on parchment and then violently erased.” He spat a glob of dark, sludgy blood onto the ash.

“The prince is being pulled into the sub-stratum.

Whatever is down there, it’s hungry.” “Not on my watch,” Roxanne snapped.

She took a step forward, intending to bolt toward the cocoon, but the moment her foot came down, the bleeding white text box from the world-rot expanded across her vision, completely overriding the system’s pink interface.

[LOCAL EVENT: The First Draft’s Judgment] [Objective: Survive the de-spawning protocol.] [Warning: The environment is actively deleting non-canonical assets.] “Non-canonical assets?

Who the fuck are you calling an asset?!” Roxanne roared.

Before she could sprint, the system’s hyper-delusional programming fought back against the world-rot, violently seizing her muscles.

The invisible strings snapped tight around her wrists and spine, forcing her to halt mid-stride.

[NOOOO!

THE ANTAGONISTS ARE TRYING TO RUIN THE MOOD!] the System screamed, its digital voice suddenly exploding back into a manic, desperate frenzy.

[Host, your tragic lover is being stolen away by the bitter ghosts of rejected subplots!

You can’t let them take your primary ship!

You must perform the ‘Sacred Aegis of the Devoted Heroine’ to manifest the ultimate shield of romance!] [MANDATORY SYSTEM QUEST: The Melodramatic Barrier of Love!

Objective: To protect Malakai and yourself from the de-spawning protocol, you must throw your arms wide open, tilt your chin up at the gray sky, and yell with intense, heart-wrenching passion: ‘My love is a fortress that no magic can delete!

Behold the absolute shield of our unwritten future!’ Reward: ‘Dark Magic Shield (Level 2)’ modified to ‘Romantic Aegis’ (Immunity to conceptual erasure for 5 minutes).

Failure Penalty: Your clothes will be permanently replaced by a giant, itchy burlap sack labeled ‘EXTRA NO.

4’ for the remainder of the volume.] “A burlap sack?

You absolute, wretched, parasitic stain on technology!” Roxanne’s inner voice reached a pitch of pure, unadulterated homicidal rage.

“We are about to be erased by a cosmic magic show and you’re worried about my wardrobe?!

I’m going to rip your code out string by string!” [Timer running out!

4… 3…] “FUCK IT!” The compliance override slammed her arms straight out to her sides.

Her chest thrust forward dramatically, her chin snapping up toward the swirling, featureless gray fog above.

The system forced her eyes to widen with a look of pure, theatrical defiance as her voice tore from her throat in a loud, incredibly embarrassing shoujo-heroine belt.

“My love is a fortress that no magic can delete!

Behold the absolute shield of our unwritten future!” *VROOOM.* The moment the words left her mouth, the gold and pink light of the Royal Key didn’t just flash, it erupted.

A massive, translucent dome of sparkling, heart-shaped geometric grids expanded outward from her body, slamming into the environment.

The pink barrier hummed with immense magical pressure, creating a five-meter safe zone around her and Malakai just as the gray plain went completely berserk.

The silver ash beneath them violently dissolved into pure, empty white space.

Everywhere outside the pink dome, the ground was literally disappearing, un-rendering into a void of nothingness.

The massive titan ribs turned into jagged, black ink lines before snapping out of existence like an animation cel being thrown into a fire.

Within the dome, Roxanne fell back to her knees, gasping for breath as the physical override released her.

“If anyone…

ever speaks of this…

I will personally skin them alive,” she wheezed, her forehead pressed against the ash that remained inside her shield.

“I won’t say a word, don’t worry sweet heart,” Malakai muttered then wink, his face pale as he stared at the edge of the dome.

Directly outside their shimmering pink barrier, there was nothing.

No ground, no sky, just a terrifying, endless white expanse.

But twenty yards away, Julian’s cocoon hadn’t vanished.

The white space seemed to warp around it, unable to erase the prince because of the massive amount of dragon mana he was channeling.

The gray cocoon split open.

Julian emerged, but he was no longer standing on his own feet.

He was suspended in the air, his body limp like a marionette with its strings cut.

The four crystalline wings on his back had expanded, their edges jagged and dripping with a thick, ink-black substance that stained the white void around him.

His face was entirely hidden behind his cracked helm, but a single, massive, bleeding white text box hovered directly over his torso: [UNIT: The Discarded Prototype (Formerly Julian)] [Status: Rewritten by the World-Rot.] [Current Rule: Every strike delivered by this unit deletes 10% of the target’s memory.] “Deletes memory?” Roxanne’s eyes narrowed as she pulled herself up, leaning heavily against the edge of her fading pink shield.

“What kind of broken-ass mechanic is that?!” [GASP!] the System gasped, its voice trembling with a mix of terror and utter, delusional romantic fantasy.

[Host!

He’s…

he’s forgetting you!

The tragic amnesia trope!

He’s being forced to forget the beautiful, fiery girl who stole his heart on the surface!

If he hits you, he’ll forget the way your hair smells!

He’ll forget the cringy things you said!

You have to save his memories with the power of physical contact!] “If he hits me, I won’t have a head to remember things with, you moron!” Roxanne yelled.

Julian’s floating form suddenly twitched.

The massive, toxic greatsword in his hand hissed as the ink-black substance coated the blade.

With a terrifying, soundless surge of speed, he launched himself directly at the pink dome.

“Malakai, brace yourself!” Roxanne yelled.

The greatsword came down.

*SHATTER.* The Level 2 Romantic Aegis shield didn’t just break; it detonated into thousands of useless pink sparkles.

The force of the blow blew Roxanne and Malakai backward across the remaining patch of silver dirt.

Roxanne hit the ground hard, rolling through the ash until her back slammed against the iron remains of the VIP train car that had somehow survived the erasure.

She looked up, her vision spinning.

Julian was already hovering over her, the ink-dripping blade raised for a final, decisive strike.

The air around the sword was warping, the white void creeping closer.

She didn’t have time to dodge.

She didn’t have the mana to cast another shield.

But as the blade began its swift, downward arc, a cold, elegant hand suddenly materialized out of the spatial rift behind Julian, grabbing the corrupted prince by the collar of his scorched gold armor.

With a casual, effortless flick of his wrist, Lucifer yanked Julian backward, throwing the massive, wing-sprouted warrior across the white void like a piece of unwanted corporate trash.

Lucifer stepped out of the spatial tear, his charcoal three-piece suit completely spotless, though his amber slit-pupils were glowing with a volatile, dangerous light.

He adjusted his cuffs, his sharp-toothed grin entirely devoid of its usual warmth as he stared out at the un-rendered abyss.

“I must admit, little bird,” Lucifer murmured, his dark baritone echoing in the empty white space.

“Your little train stunt completely shattered Sector 9’s mana grid.

This spatial breach is collapsing the entire lower sector.” Above his head, his neon subtitle box vibrated with heavy, unstable light: Target: Lucifer (High Demon Lord / CEO of Hell) Affection Level: 35% (Deeply Annoyed / Highly Alert / Calculating Risk) True Thought: This girl’s wild pink magic is tearing the realm’s foundations apart.

If the Prince dies in this void, the Upper Realm armies will invade.

If the realm collapses, Hell burns with it.

I must force her to use that key to seal this spatial rift before we are all consumed by antimagic.

“You,” Roxanne rasped, coughing up more ash as she tried to stand.

“How the hell did you track us down here?” “I own the infrastructure, little bird,” Lucifer replied smoothly, stepping closer as the white void began to ripple violently around them.

“And right now, we are standing inside an uncalibrated spatial tear.

If we don’t seal this breach within two minutes, the entire pocket dimension will collapse into pure antimagic.” Before Roxanne could utter a single curse, a massive, deafening *CRACK* echoed from above.

A colossal, vertical tear opened in the roof of the void.

Through the rift, the sky of the surface world flickered into view, and descending straight through the gap came a massive, divine containment capsule emblazoned with the Imperial crest, surrounded by holy light.

Alistair had breached the subterranean sector from above, while high at the temple altar, Ethan’s divine tether was pulling the rift open from the surface.

The entire white space began to fold in on itself, dragging Roxanne, Malakai, Lucifer, and the mutated Prince directly into the collapsing center.
