"Wh... Where am I?" The words came out, muffled and weak.
Perry... or rather, Lukas raised his hand.
His eyes were blurry, only seeing the arm in a flash. But that was enough for him.
The sleeves of his shirt were torn into pieces, reduced to mere rags.
Even his arm was slimmer compared to before.
All of these, paired with the sudden influx of information that smashed into Lukas’s head proved one thing.
He had transmigrated.
Lukas swung his leg over, letting it land on the floor with a gentle thud.
The cold of the floor bit his leg, sending a chill up his spine.
"How?"
Lukas did not notice the harsh temperature of the room. All he asked was ’How?’
He remembered when he finished playing Tower of Ascension and a mysterious screen appeared in his face.
"Don’t tell me that thing brought me here," he muttered with a squint.
Even if it is able to bring me here, I don’t remember permitting it when it asked.
In his previous life, Lukas had always been a calm and realistic person.
"Calm my ass. How am I supposed to be calm when I suddenly appear in this strange new world?" he asked, still reeling from the reality of things.
[Host, please, calm your emotions.]
The familiar screen that had appeared in his face before he slept, appeared before him again.
"Good, you’re here," Lukas said to the screen. "Send me back to Earth now."
The system went silent for a while. Less than a minute, butLukas had already lost his calm before then.
"Let me guess, you would give a cliché speech about a demon king coming to destroy the world in a year, and I have been chosen as the hero to save this world. Without doing that, I can’t leave this world."
Lukas gasped, breathing as much air as he could. Saying so much in one breath was truly pushing himself to his limits.
[The goal of the system is to turn the host into the new God of Trickery. But the host can not leave until he reaches the true god stage.]
It was as though cold water had been poured on him.
But the disappointment soon disappeared.
He thought about what the system had just said. There was no way he could leave even if he wanted to.
There was only one thing he could do in a situation like this.
"Reach a certain level to get a reward. I guess there’s no vacation for this gamer."
It was to savor every moment of it.
[You can check the system at any moment by saying system. Please, forge your path to the peak, host.]
The voice vanished in the next instant, making Lukas raise a brow.
"I thought it was going to stay as my guide throughout."
Lukas did not think too much about it though. He began sorting through the memory in his mind.
In this world, humans form bonds with pantheons and gods to become known as awakened beings.
Not only are awakened beings capable of summoning divine weapons, sacred beasts, heroes, and celestial armies. They can also use the blessings and miracles of their Patron gods.
And opposing humans are the voidborns. Invaders that took over more than thirty percent of human territory.
Even though the world has expanded wildly after the emergence of divine energy, humans still had their pride and were not willing to let even one percent of their property go into the hands of invaders.
And so, the battlefields were created all around the world.
Places where humans and voidborns clash, far away from civilization.
"This world has such a lore," Lukas said with a scoff.
He did not think much about it though. Well, he did.
"I just hope I don’t always need to fight these voidborns in the future."
According to his memory too, people could only increase their rank by killing voidborns.
As a shut-in, Lukas had never been in any physical fight in his life. He had only ever fought in games, never in reality.
Before he could continue with his thoughts, his stomach grumbled.
That was the call Lukas needed to finally think of where he was and his situation.
His eyes shot around, taking in the sight.
It was a slightly dilapidated room with a single, almost broken bed.
The ceiling leaked water from the rain that fell outside. The bed was already drenched and soaking wet.
His body was frail. He was barely able to keep standing.
"Okay, I guess I would have to eat the food you were keeping for tomorrow," Lukas said, already walking towards the small section cut in the room.
There was a disposable pack there.
Without hesitation, Lukas picked it up and opened the lid.
What filled the container was plain white grain that gave off no aroma.
Lukas did not care at the moment. He dug in, taking a full scoop with his spoon.
The taste was bland. Lukas’s face turned yellow, barely able to stop himself from throwing up.
But he continued eating nonetheless.
"Okay, okay," Lukas said, rubbing his stomach gently as he looked around.
He had eaten his fill and returned the rest to the corner.
Wiping his mouth with the ragged clothes, a grin formed on his lips.
"Where was I?" he said, approaching the wooden chair beside his bed.
That was the only thing that could be said to still be in shape in this room.
"At least, I don’t have a load of debt to pay off."
If that had been one of his problems, Lukas would probably have run away from the house the moment he finished eating.
He sat in the chair, resting his back with a long sigh.
"God of Trickery heh" he giggled as if it were a joke.
Then, his lips parted.
"System."
Before him, a new window unfurled like a divine scroll, revealing tab after tab to Lukas who could only stare with shaky breaths.
"You mean I can do everything here?"
