The words “rapist” were pronounced by Xing Hui in a tone devoid of fluctuation, cold and final, as if he were delivering a sentence upon You Miao.
The moment he heard that word, You Miao’s face turned deathly pale. He glared at Xing Hui and immediately shouted back, “You’re the rapist!”
Before his voice had even faded, Xing Hui grabbed his collar. The faint smile at the corner of his lips vanished, replaced by a chilling gloom that made people uneasy.
“Are you sure?” he asked, tugging You Miao closer until they were nearly face to face, his teeth clenched. “You’ll have to take responsibility for what you just said.”
You Miao’s hands hung at his sides, fists tightening as he struggled not to swing them.
“Even if I’m not sure, when I was completely unconscious you…” His body trembled with anger. “You are!”
Xing Hui met his reddened eyes, eyes so furious they seemed on the verge of tears. Anyone unaware of the situation might think Xing Hui had dragged a whole group here just to bully him. Noticing how drenched he looked, Xing Hui finally released his grip, a smile of ambiguous meaning curving his lips.
“Fine, fine. I am,” he said lazily. “I seduced you. I climbed into your bed. I raped you, alright?” His expression carried a hint of reminiscence, mixed with an inexplicable amusement. “Did you really forget? Or are you pretending?”
The way he spoke was so innocent, so open, so utterly fearless that You Miao couldn’t help revealing a trace of barely perceptible guilt.
Could it be that Zhou You… had taken the initiative?
Doubt began to stir in You Miao’s heart. He wanted to argue but he truly remembered nothing about last night. He couldn’t even recall when he had crossed into this world.
Xing Hui adopted a reasonable tone. “The police are here. Since you say I raped you, then let’s go to the station. Are you willing?”
You Miao simmered with anger. You’re the one who brought all these police here in the first place and now you’re asking whether I’m willing?
His lips pressed tightly together, his expression tense as he stared at the hypocritical face before him.
That face seemed to be telling everyone he was innocent and no matter how You Miao reacted, the onlookers would surely interpret it as guilty conscience.
That bastard, he could’ve just had the police contact him directly yet he chose to make such a spectacle. He had done it on purpose, just to attract a crowd.
So what kind of influence did this man have to summon so many officers?
But that didn’t seem to be the main issue right now. The real issue was his innocence, his purity, his grievance.
You Miao’s thoughts were in complete chaos. Less than twenty four hours after entering this world, he hadn’t even figured out the situation, hadn’t even clarified who he was and now this bastard had made everything even more confusing.
“Are you unwilling or just afraid?” Xing Hui spoke again, sounding utterly confident as he watched You Miao with a half smile.
You Miao took a deep breath. His throat felt tight but he managed to stay relatively calm. Swallowing his disgust, he said, “Why would I be afraid?”
The clock on the police station wall pointed to 23:35. Xing Hui had finished giving his statement.
You Miao sat nearby, listening as Xing Hui recounted everything that had happened the previous night in meticulous detail. There were even witnesses and surveillance footage.
One of the witnesses was Fang Xinyu. If You Miao hadn’t seen his photo earlier in the phone’s social media feed, he wouldn’t have recognized him at all.
Fang Xinyu spoke about You Miao with indifference, stating that before going to the hotel, Zhou You had stolen money from him, along with some aphrodisiac drugs he kept at home.
Those drugs not only stimulated desire but could also trigger an alpha’s susceptible period in advance. They were prohibited substances, rarely available on the market, usually obtained through underground channels by certain workers or couples with unusual preferences.
Fang Xinyu worked as a resident singer in a bar and occasionally engaged in such transactions to earn extra money, so it wasn’t surprising he possessed those drugs. He then accused Zhou You of ingratitude, letting him stay out of goodwill as a fellow townsman, only for Zhou You to constantly steal from him.
Listening to all this, You Miao’s face tightened, a sense of collapse creeping into his heart.
This Zhou You’s life and moral conduct were both a complete mess.
It was Zhou You who had gone to great lengths to reach the hotel’s top floor suite and climb into someone else’s bed.
At that moment, You Miao felt as though his lifeline had been seized. His mind went blank, unable to process any coherent thoughts.
Meanwhile, Xing Hui sat there, watching him without blinking, like a hunter observing prey already within reach, seeing his helplessness, recalling the earlier ferocity with which he had bared his claws and slowly curling his lips into a faint smile.
You Miao was overwhelmed by the overwhelming evidence, especially the idea of one man deliberately climbing into another man’s bed and even purchasing such drugs. It exceeded his straight man understanding.
If all this were true, what consequences would he face? What standards would the law here use to judge him?
He was far too confused to think calmly or rationally. Sitting there for a long while, he finally lifted his eyes toward Xing Hui. The words slipped out before he could stop them.
“How do I know you didn’t buy all this evidence?”
When he said this, his voice was not loud. It carried a faint lack of confidence yet his gaze did not waver. He looked straight at Xing Huai.
Xing Huai clearly had not expected that response. Unhurriedly, he said, “Looks like a blood alcohol test can’t be skipped either. Otherwise listen to yourself , you still haven’t sobered up.”
Yu Miao’s fingertips trembled slightly. “I…” As soon as he spoke, he realized his teeth were faintly chattering. “I want to speak with the police.”
He had no idea who the man before him really was or why he could sit in the police station as comfortably as if it were his own living room but one thing he knew with absolute certainty , he did not want to stay in the same room as this person, did not want to talk to him, did not want to look at him and certainly did not want to smell that irritating perfume lingering on him.
A trace of displeasure flickered in Xing Huai’s eyes, though he did not lash out. He simply stood up and looked down at Yu Miao from above, letting out a contemptuous scoff. Without saying anything more, he shot a glance at the police.
Immediately, the two officers in the room ushered everyone else outside.
Confusion spread across Yu Miao’s face. Watching the officers leave, he abruptly stood up. “Officer, what do you mean? I don’t want to be alone in a room with this person!”
The moment his words fell, Xing Huai walked up to him, standing face to face. After hearing that last sentence, the displeasure on his face became visibly apparent in Yu Miao’s eyes.
“Don’t want to be alone in a room with me?” Xing Huai’s gaze was sharp as a blade. “You weren’t like this last night.”
“I…” Yu Miao could not get the rebuttal out. He could hardly say he wasn’t Zhou You and had transmigrated here. He could only press his lips together, fists clenched tight.
“What?” Xing Huai’s voice was cold. “You’re going to say you don’t remember again? That you weren’t conscious? Hmm?”
This person had gone to such lengths to climb into his bed , surely there had to be a motive. Money or something else.
What kind of trick was he playing?
Xing Huai could not help but speculate. After all, based on the investigation, Zhou You was not someone who wanted nothing.
Yu Miao remained tense all over, saying nothing.
“What exactly are you playing at?” Xing Huai leaned forward slightly, his gaze heavy as it fixed on him.
The distance between them shrank. Yu Miao instinctively stepped back, accidentally knocking over the chair behind him with a loud clang. His shoulders jerked in reflex.
That action earned a mocking remark from Xing Huai. “Nice act.”
“What am I acting?” The suppressed anger in Yu Miao burst forth. “I was startled , what’s wrong with shrinking back? And what does that have to do with you? You’re meddling way too much!”
Those words left Xing Huai momentarily speechless. He stared into Yu Miao’s eyes. Yu Miao did not flinch and met his gaze head on.
After a moment, Xing Huai suddenly looked as if he had figured something out. He smiled faintly, straightened up and let out a soft hum. “Impressive tactics.” With that, he turned and walked away.
Yu Miao did not understand why he said that but once the man left, the tension coiled inside him loosened considerably. He let out a quiet breath, picked up the fallen chair and sat down weakly.
He was utterly exhausted. His hair was wet, his clothes were wet and his body felt uncomfortable all over. All he wanted was to find a comfortable place to lie down and sleep.
An officer walked in, holding a paper cup filled with water and handed it to him.
“Thank you.” Fatigue covered Yu Miao’s face as he forced himself to ask, “Will I go to prison?”
The officer could not give an answer. That depended on the crown prince’s mood. So instead, he asked with suspicion, “You really don’t know who he is?”
In the entire Haishi, anyone who watched military or news channels knew that surname Xing.
But after observing all night, the person in front of him truly seemed not to recognize Xing Huai.
Still, if he didn’t know him, why climb into that living ancestor’s bed?
The key was that he had succeeded. That was something new.
The officer actually wanted to ask how he managed it but he did not dare.
Yu Miao could only grumble inwardly that he did not know but aloud he asked, “Does he know your superior?”
The officer laughed at that. Their superior would not even manage to curry favor with him but this topic was not one he dared discuss. Instead, he advised Yu Miao kindly to apologize to Xing Huai.
“We’re not taking his side,” the officer hesitated, “but with his status and position, forget you and me , even our chief can’t afford to offend him. If he gets unhappy, he could take your life directly.”
“And besides, all the evidence is against you. If things are pursued seriously, you’ll definitely go to jail but now…” The officer trailed off. The leadership had said that the Xing family’s young master intended to let him go but wanted an attitude. So they could only play mediator and persuade him. “As long as you apologize, he’ll let you go. Why won’t you do it?”
Yu Miao frowned deeply, falling into silence and thought. After a long while, he took a deep breath and agreed to apologize.
Xing Huai had already returned home. The officer relayed Yu Miao’s attitude and received a reply , tomorrow.
With nowhere to go, Yu Miao spent the night at the police station.
He was exhausted. Lying on the chair, he closed his eyes and quickly fell asleep. In the middle of the night, he woke from the cold. His wet clothes had dried against his body and now the air conditioner’s chill made him shiver.
Yu Miao felt uncomfortable all over. That strange heat rose again, like a fever. He lifted a hand to touch his forehead but it did not seem particularly hot.
Looking out the window, dawn was approaching. For some reason, his nose stung faintly.
He had thought that once morning came and the police were on duty, the matter would be mediated but the reply remained the same , wait.
The original owner’s phone was broken. He had no one to contact and nowhere to go, so he could only stay at the station.
And so Yu Miao waited from morning until evening.
He knew the other party was doing it on purpose but with such power and status, he was not someone Yu Miao could afford to offend.
Just when Yu Miao thought nothing would happen today, the officer from yesterday informed him to go to a certain hotel.
“Young Master Xing is waiting for you there. Go on.”
Yu Miao’s brows tightened. That hotel was the very one where the incident had happened.
He sensed a trace of danger but had no choice but to go. Since arriving in this world he had understood nothing yet even the police told him Xing Huai was untouchable. If he wanted to avoid prison, he had to apologize.
The officer was surprisingly considerate, driving him to the hotel entrance in a police car.
Led by the receptionist, Yu Miao went to the top floor. It was the same room. Standing at the door, his palms clenched, he hesitated for a long time before finally entering.
Xing Huai seemed to be waiting. Sitting there, he looked over the moment Yu Miao arrived. “You made me wait too long.” Without waiting for an answer, he continued, “How is it? Familiar? Now that you’re here, shouldn’t you remember something?”
Yu Miao’s fists tightened further. Keeping his expression controlled, he said, “The police asked me to come apologize, so… I’m sorry.”
Xing Huai raised a brow, staring intently. “So if the police hadn’t asked, you wouldn’t have come?”
Yu Miao should have said no but he pressed his lips together and remained silent.
Xing Huai stood, a chill entering his eyes as he walked up to him and sneered. “Trying to attract my attention this way?”
Yu Miao finally met his gaze. “No. I sincerely came to apologize.” He took a breath. “Please be magnanimous and forgive me.”
“You didn’t?” Xing Huai’s eyes seemed to gather anger. “Then why did you drug me? Why sleep with me?”
Those words stirred revulsion in Yu Miao’s heart. He opened his mouth but did not know how to answer.
“You must have had a reason for doing it, right?” Xing Huai did not know why he suddenly felt so displeased. “Did you just want me to fuck you? Or did you come here to sell yourself?”
The moment those words fell, disgust flashed across Yu Miao’s face. His cheeks burned with humiliation as he glared at him, suppressing anger yet remaining silent.
“Glare at me? You still dare glare?” Xing Huai’s temper flared. “Am I wrong? You took the initiative to let me fuck you and now you’re pretending to be virtuous!”
Xing Huai had never endured such grievance. Now that they were alone, there was no reason to restrain himself. This person had provoked him first, drugged him to trigger his susceptible period, forcing intimacy.
And afterward he showed attitude, even worse , he had gone to the police accusing him of rape.
Thinking of it darkened Xing Huai’s expression further. He lifted a hand, gripping Yu Miao’s chin and forcing him to raise his face. “Look at me.”
Yu Miao clenched his fists so tightly his nails nearly dug into his palms. Staring at Xing Huai’s furious face, he still could not utter a word.
Because he did not know what to say. He was not Zhou You. What happened that night was not his doing.
“Are you playing hard to get?” Xing Huai continued. “First you let me fuck you, then you called the police…” He stopped abruptly, piecing the matter together in his mind. Realization dawned and suspicion filled his gaze. “Who exactly are you? Who sent you?” His grip tightened.
The pain made Yu Miao instinctively slap his hand away. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m just an ordinary person. I…” Seeing Xing Huai’s icy expression, his tone softened in weakness. “Calling the police was my fault. I sincerely apologize. I hope you can let me go.”
His hand having been slapped away, Xing Huai should have been annoyed but meeting Yu Miao’s eyes and seeing his submissive expression, that annoyance inexplicably faded. A short laugh escaped him. “Let you go?”
Yu Miao’s heart skipped, a bad premonition rising.
Xing Huai said, “Sure.” Rolling his neck, he sneered, “Strip naked, stick your ass up on the bed and let me fuck you. Then I’ll let you go.”
Yu Miao looked at the mocking, disdainful, cold eyes. His clenched fists trembled and in a sudden moment, he swung a punch straight into Xing Huai’s face.
