After finishing an emergency case, Zhou You tidied up and prepared to head to the Xing family’s old residence.
He knew Xing Hui would come pick him up but he hadn’t known Xing Hui had never left.
Just as he reached the lobby on the first floor, a voice sounded behind him.
“Brother Zhou!”
Han Xiaosong ran over happily and slung an arm around Zhou You’s shoulder, pulling him close. The gesture looked undeniably intimate.
Han Xiaosong was the only male beta nurse among this batch of interns. He had been extremely insecure at first and Zhou You often encouraged him. Facing Zhou You, young, capable and handsome, Han Xiaosong felt as though he’d seen a beam of light. From that moment on, he became Zhou You’s devoted admirer.
“What is it, Xiaosong?” Zhou You smiled gently. He wasn’t bothered by the gesture and didn’t push him away.
“Nothing really,” Han Xiaosong grinned from ear to ear. “I still haven’t thanked you for what happened last time. I’m off this afternoon, can I treat you to a meal? Will you honor me, Brother Zhou?”
Zhou You smiled and was just about to respond when he saw an all-too-familiar figure charging toward them. Before either of them could react, Xing Hui kicked Han Xiaosong hard, sending him flying several meters away to crash heavily onto the ground.
The kick was brutal.
Han Xiaosong let out a scream immediately and startled cries erupted all around.
“Xiaosong!” Zhou You was shocked. He rushed forward to check on him, only to have Xing Hui grab his wrist and yank him into his arms, sneering, “Xiaosong? Calling him so affectionately?”
“Xing Hui!” Zhou You was furious. “Have you lost your mind? Let go of me!”
Xing Hui was even angrier. Laughing and hugging some young guy yet giving him no warmth at all every day.
Now seeing Zhou You’s anxious expression, jealousy surged violently. “You’re that worried about him? Who is he? Something you’re keeping on the side?”
As he spoke, his grip tightened.
It wasn’t that Xing Hui was narrow-minded. Before marrying him, Zhou You had a notorious reputation, flirting everywhere, wild beyond measure, surrounded by Omegas, Betas and even Alphas.
After being with him, Zhou You had restrained himself but that didn’t mean no one coveted him, nor did it mean he had truly settled down.
Zhou You’s wrist hurt from the grip but he didn’t even frown. He simply stared coldly at Xing Hui, his eyes filled with anger and undisguised disgust.
Xing Hui wasn’t blind. He could see how unhappy Zhou You was at that moment, especially in a public place and in the hospital where he worked.
But he was simply furious. Zhou You was a married person, how could he be out here, behind his Alpha husband’s back, hugging someone else, laughing and chatting so happily?
“What, did I hit the mark?” Xing Hui sneered, his mouth slipping into its usual vicious mode. “You’re unhappy because I said it out loud? I kicked him and your heart hurts now? Or did I embarrass you, Doctor Zhou? You put a green hat on me and I didn’t beat him to death, that’s already him being lucky!”
Xing Hui’s shouting immediately drew more onlookers. Several of Zhou You’s colleagues noticed the commotion and gathered around as well. Some helped Han Xiaosong up and took him to get checked, while others stepped forward, trying to break up the situation.
Everyone knew Zhou You was married but no one knew who his partner was. Mainly because Zhou You had never mentioned his spouse before. On ordinary days, when people chatted idly, they all guessed his partner must be a beautiful Omega, otherwise, why would Zhou You protect his lover’s information so carefully?
Seeing it with their own eyes today, they couldn’t help but feel varying degrees of shock.
No one had expected Zhou You’s partner to be an Alpha.
And judging purely by temperament, this man was either wealthy or powerful. Looking closer at his face, handsome, striking and most importantly, oddly familiar. It felt as though they had seen him somewhere before.
Zhou You had no intention of responding to Xing Hui’s unreasonable outburst. With that, he turned and strode toward the hospital lobby doors without looking back.
Xing Hui froze for a moment. His breathing instantly grew heavy, his chest rising and falling as he shouted angrily, “Zhou You!” Then he chased after him.
Calling it “chasing” was generous, it was more like charging forward, his footsteps heavy, clearly furious beyond measure.
After only a few steps, Xing Hui grabbed Zhou You by the shoulder and forcefully turned him around. “You’re giving me attitude over some outsider?” He bit out every word, his grip painfully tight.
Zhou You frowned slightly, looking at the ferocious expression on Xing Hui’s face, remaining silent.
Xing Hui clenched his teeth and switched to grabbing Zhou You’s cheek instead, squeezing hard, forcing him to look up. “Speak!”
Zhou You’s beautiful face was distorted by the pressure. He glared at Xing Hui in hatred, forcing the words through clenched teeth. “…Let go of me.”
“Let go, don’t touch me, is that all you ever say to me?” Xing Hui didn’t care at all about the people coming and going around them. He felt unbearably wronged, desperate to assert ownership, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear. “I’m your legal husband! We’re legally married!”
Why was it that when others touched Zhou You, he didn’t push them away but when he did, it wasn’t allowed? He was the lawful one!
Seeing the situation escalate, several colleagues hurried over to intervene.
“Let’s talk this out calmly. Don’t get physical.”

Zhou You’s expression worsened, still red, unbearably so. He glared at Xing Hui and spat out through clenched teeth, “Shameless!”
For some reason, those words sounded flirtatious to Xing Hui. He laughed happily. “What do I need a face for? I want you.” With that, he bent down and scooped Zhou You up in a bridal carry, striding toward the exit.
The turn of events left everyone frozen in place.
Brother Chen stared after them, worry creeping into his voice. “Xiao Zhou won’t get beaten up, will he?”
“Probably not…”
“That partner of his doesn’t look easy to mess with.”
“Don’t you think Doctor Zhou’s partner looks familiar? Like we’ve seen him somewhere before, I just can’t remember.”
“I thought so too.”

The realization hit them all at once, followed by collective shock.
Thinking back on how Zhou You had always avoided mentioning his partner, it suddenly made sense. Someone from the Alliance Central Military, a major figure like that, wasn’t someone whose identity could be casually revealed.
In full view of everyone, Zhou You was carried out of the hospital building by Xing Hui and placed into the car.
Zhou You struggled during the process but he couldn’t break free from Xing Hui’s hold, drawing even more stares from passersby.
He felt like he had lost all the face he would ever have in this lifetime.
A thought crossed his mind, maybe he shouldn’t come back to work here anymore.
Once inside the car, Xing Hui pressed Zhou You into the seat. Curling his leg up, he forced Zhou You’s legs apart with his knee, leaning in close. The scent of roses flooded Zhou You’s nose, lungs, even his mind. Panic and confusion filled his eyes as he warned, “We’re outside.”
Xing Hui’s inhibitor bracelet had somehow ended up on the car seat. His throat felt dry as he swallowed. “I know.” His knee rubbed against Zhou You.
Zhou You: “……”

Zhou You cursed him silently.
Xing Hui’s long legs were uncomfortable in that bent position. After rubbing a bit, he finally released Zhou You, reached over to fasten his seatbelt and as he withdrew his hand, he deliberately brushed Zhou You’s waist.
“If Dad weren’t waiting for us at the old house, I’d fuck you right here,” Xing Hui said casually. “How long has it been since we did it in the car?”
Zhou You straightened his rumpled clothes, his flushed eyes flicking toward Xing Hui with disdain. “Is there anything else in your head besides that?”
Xing Hui laughed softly and turned to look at him. “Nope. All day long, I just think about fucking you, doing you, filling you.” He laughed again, pleasant, satisfied.
Zhou You took a deep breath, trying to suppress his anger but before he could steady himself, he cursed, “An unevolved beast.”
Xing Hui laughed outright, delighted. He loved it when Zhou You cursed at him.
Zhou You had to admit, when it came to being shameless, he was no match for Xing Hui.
As the car started, Xing Hui spoke in a low voice, deliberately warning him. “That Xiaosong or whatever, if he dares hug you again, I’ll chop him up.”
Zhou You frowned at him, disgust in his eyes. After a long pause, he said flatly, “Got it.”
The car stopped in the courtyard of the Xing family’s old residence.
After getting out, Xing Hui grabbed Zhou You’s hand, lacing their fingers together. “Hold hands.”
Zhou You was fed up. He didn’t respond, couldn’t shake free either, so he just sulked silently.
Xing Hui kissed the back of his hand, a faint, pleasing smile appearing on his lips as he led Zhou You inside.
Xing Mingyuan had been waiting for a long time. The food was ready, only awaiting their arrival.
“Dad.” Zhou You was always polite before Xing Mingyuan, maintaining a deliberate distance.
The old man hummed in response. “Sit. Let’s eat.”
In front of elders, Zhou You at least gave Xing Hui a bit of face, murmuring for him to let go.
Xing Hui refused. “Why?”
Zhou You grew impatient. “If you don’t let go, how am I supposed to eat?”
Xing Hui joked about feeding him, making Xing Mingyuan’s brow twitch, the urge to dump his bowl over his son’s head nearly overwhelming.
After some fooling around, Xing Hui finally behaved himself and released Zhou You so they could eat.
At the table, Xing Mingyuan did most of the talking, while the two of them listened.
They returned to the old house three times a week, so there wasn’t much new to discuss, mostly household matters, with the occasional mention of official business.
Near the end of the meal, Xing Mingyuan suddenly changed the subject. “Xing Hui, after the New Year, you’ll be pushing thirty. Isn’t it time to think about having a child?” He added, “This was something you promised me. You’ve been married for five years, shouldn’t you honor that promise?”
Zhou You pretended not to hear. Having a child had nothing to do with him.
In this world, Alphas couldn’t get pregnant.
If Xing Hui wanted a child, he could simply find an Omega.
Which would suit Zhou You just fine, he could get divorced.
Xing Hui first glanced at Zhou You, then looked at his father. “Sure but it has to be Zhou You who gives birth.”
