Small Unit
by 风中烟雾
A unit of about ten people, small but complete. Power, money, human nature, and career—these four concepts are clearly defined, but in reality, they have no clear boundaries, intertwining and coexisting. Arranged and combined in individuals, they create myriad variations, each person unique. Personal involvement in work is contingent, but once one becomes part of the unit, words and actions become inevitable. A job is tied to the economic income essential for survival, indispensable. Despite countless dissatisfactions, one cannot leave; even if not defended, one would not slander it—emotions are complex. In an industry lacking objective evaluation standards, where human will serves as the criterion, under the dominance of "successful" figures and inertia, anything can happen. Having been in it and struggled for it, thirty years pass in a flash—whether in resentment or worry, only now do I realize the preciousness and difficulty of speaking the truth.
