At the boundary of yin and yang, the mouth of the Yellow Springs, thirteen ghost gates guarded by the living. Jailers and underworld officials in brocade robes, the courier station of reincarnation watched by mountain dogs. Door gods, narcissus, Confucian temples, red lanterns and white banners winding through the streets. In this ghost ballad missing one line lies a shocking secret. Because I was a child stolen from the Yellow Springs by my grandfather, I was entangled in this underworld mystery even before birth. To break the deadlock binding me, I repeatedly ventured into extremely dangerous places: questioning corpses in desolate graves, floating coffins in quicksand, the Nine Waters Altar, the Lifeless Ghost Gate... After countless brushes with death, I finally bloodily completed the last line of the ghost ballad. But by then, I could no longer turn back.
