A Sword Star Shines Through Eons
by 凌叶忧
In a world where everyone awakens a sword spirit at age four, the sword spirit is heaven's decree and one's only lifelong partner. All are favored by heaven, except Lu Xingchen, a forsaken child. As the clan leader's legitimate son, he is burdened by family shackles from childhood, oppressed and unheard. At four, his sword spirit fails to manifest, making him a cursed lone star abandoned by heaven, falling from grace. His father goes mad, relatives are cold, his mother bears scars protecting him, yet all blame falls on him. He nearly dies many times, contemplates ending his life, but stubbornly endures until fourteen, when he leaves home. The world laughs at him for having no spirit, no destiny, being as humble as dust. Yet they don't know he possesses the chaotic supreme sword that even the great Dao fears. The sword maiden Lu Xingci has accompanied him through all darkness since he was four. She doesn't want him to bear fate, doesn't ask if he is strong, only accepts his scarred self. She is his only light. With a telepathic sword strike, chaotic light illuminates eternal stars. He does not worship heaven, kneel to Dao, accept fate, or tolerate false affection. Born by fate is destiny; defying heaven is my Lu Xingchen! This life only guards Lu Xingci; if heaven abandons me, I will become my own heaven!
