Dream of the Remnant Tang

On the eve of the 2024 postgraduate entrance exam, history student Shen Mo travels back to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, becoming a strategist for Li Cunxu, the Prince of Jin. He witnesses the Battle of Baixiang, the Xingjiao Gate Incident, and the rise and fall of the Later Tang dynasty; meets figures like Guo Wei, Chai Rong, and Zhao Kuangyin, swept up in the tide of history; and falls in love with the fiery Chai Shouyu, enduring a decade-long search for his wife. Twenty-six years later, Shen Mo discovers from notes left by another time traveler a way to return—the night of the Seven Stars' alignment opens a path home. Yet when the door truly opens, he chooses to stay. In the winter of the third year of Kaibao, Shen Mo passes away peacefully surrounded by family. His tombstone reads: 'I came from a thousand years hence, fortunate to meet you all.' This is a story about choice—between knowing and being powerless to change, between returning and staying—a man uses his entire life to make a choice he never regrets.
