Above the Great River

Above the Great River tells the story of a teenager from a national-level impoverished county who struggles, makes choices, and perseveres through the tides of the era, ultimately growing into a leader in national defense science and technology. The novel attempts to answer: when an individual's destiny resonates with the rise of the nation, what height and depth can one's 'life' achieve? The core image of the 'Great River' has three meanings: the Yellow River, the mother river of the protagonist's hometown, the root of agricultural civilization; the river of the era, the torrent of China's drastic social changes from 1990 to 2030; and the spiritual river, the surging and sedimentation of a generation's inner world. This book is dedicated to those who silently contribute to the strength of the nation, and in memory of my own past youth.
