Spirit Herbs and Immortal Trails
by 湘猴
In 2035, Dr. Ning Qingxiao, a Chinese herbal medicine PhD, falls off a cliff and travels back to the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era. He carries only a smart bracelet and nine 'Blue Hua Safety Cards'—each card summons rescue once, at the cost of an extra year in the past. Outside Jinling City, he saves a dying child and discovers that the mythical Zhuyu grass from the Classic of Mountains and Seas is real. While gathering herbs, he encounters a demon beast, activating the first Blue Hua card, and a rescue team descends from the sky. He realizes his mission: to travel across the nine provinces, gathering herbs and saving lives. He meets Xu Xiake, a young man who has already traveled 30,000 miles to see the strange plants and beasts from books. They team up—one knows herbs, the other knows routes. His first patient is Su Tan'er, the eldest daughter of the Weaving Bureau, who is poisoned with a cold toxin and has only three years left. The antidote is the Shatang fruit from Kunlun Mountain. To save her, he must travel the world within three years—each life saved consumes his cultivation, each herb identified increases it. When his cultivation runs out, he will lose his memory; when the three years are up, he can never return home. But he never looks back, because a healer's duty is to let patients open their eyes.
