Countless people sought to change their fate by developing habitable planets, making the Galactic Alliance a target. They formed a new Pioneer Alliance, beginning an endless war with the Galactic Alliance—a conflict over whether humanity's future lies in boundless expansion and planetary transformation across the universe or in clinging to its current sphere of influence with a radius of about 3,000 light-years.
