An epic chronicle spanning forty years (1990s-2030s), set in the fictional city of Linjiang. It begins with the restructuring of state-owned enterprises, through land finance, financial storms, big data anti-corruption, and into future smart city governance, presenting a panoramic view of the pains, explorations, and rebirth in China's modernization. More than anti-corruption, it explores what constitutes the 'backbone' that supports a nation's endurance amid the tides of the era—be it faith, principles, or the conscience of millions of ordinary people.
