Birth of a Martian

In December 2149, the world witnessed a rare event in human history: the only 'nine-planet alignment' in the solar system between 3001 BC and 3000 AD was about to occur in early December. Almost all observatories worldwide turned their attention to the same patch of sky. The Zijin Observatory of Dragon Country first discovered an intruder entering the solar system—the Doom Star. Calculations by major international observatories showed that the Doom Star, with a mass and volume between those of Mars and Earth, had entered the solar system and was heading toward Earth. If nothing unexpected happened, it would collide with Earth in 30 to 35 years, bringing catastrophic destruction to humanity and the planet.
