Chess of Life Unending

Set against the backdrop of the Chu-Han contention, this story follows the cold and strategic Xiao Qi, who is appointed by Liu Bang as the supreme commander of the entire army. Using the battlefield as a chessboard and soldiers as pieces, he campaigns across the chaotic world. Volume 1: Xiao Qi first takes command and meets the wandering Nangong Yan; their feelings grow but they are forced to part. Volume 2: Xiao Qi is ambushed and severely injured while deep in enemy territory, rescued by Lin Ling; as their affection deepens, Lin Ling is coerced by the enemy to leave, while Liu Yue silently guards him. Volume 3: Xiao Qi regroups, dismantles the Chu camp alliance, and helps Liu Bang pacify the realm. After achieving success, he chooses to retire and meets the ordinary Ouyang Shuwan, spending his life with her. Nangong Yan finds her own归宿, Liu Yue quietly departs, and all regrets turn into serenity. The entire book uses Xiao Qi's life trajectory to interpret the truth that 'life is like chess, each goes their own way, yet they meet,' encompassing the trade-offs and release of war strategy and romantic entanglements.
