I Surrender Myself to the Nation at the Start of the War of Resistance
by 星河秋水
In December 1937, at Guanghua Gate in Nanjing, Xu Feng had just stabbed a Japanese soldier with his bayonet when a bullet pierced his shoulder. Leaning against a broken wall, hearing the Japanese shouts getting closer, he touched his chest—the 'iron box' he had picked up from a pile of corpses suddenly lit up. A line appeared on the screen: [Beijing, 2024, Connected]. A trembling male voice came through: 'Hello... which year is it on your end?' Xu Feng looked at the Blue Sky White Sun flag still fluttering on the city wall and said hoarsely, 'The 26th year of the Republic, December 13th.' After a three-second silence, the voice on the other end said, almost crying, 'Comrade, hold on! We... we have studied for 87 years and finally found a way to help you!'
