Solid as a Rock

The red mist descends, the world collapses. Yanjing fortifies itself with iron walls, where awakened ones are revered and ordinary people are treated like weeds. Thirteen-year-old Shen Mu is the most inconspicuous student in the regular class of No. 7 Middle School—no awakened ability, no prominent background, bottom of the class, skinny as a bamboo pole. His father is a small squad leader on the city wall patrol, and his mother went missing three years ago when she ventured into the red mist with a survey team. On his first day of school, he is trampled by awakened students from the special training class. His locker is broken into, his clothes thrown into the toilet, he is electrocuted in PE class, and on his way home, he is cornered by eight people. Teachers are perfunctory, the school is silent, and justice cannot grow in the cracks of the system. He has only one thing—a pebble left by his mother, and a pair of eyes that refuse to close.
