Set in the era of Yelü Abaoji, the Central Plains are in turmoil with fragmented regimes and dynastic changes. The Dayin Dynasty has retreated within the passes, neglecting border defenses. Under Abaoji's leadership, the Khitan unify the eight tribes of the steppe, boasting formidable military strength and ambition. They continuously invade southward, encroaching on border territories and plundering the people, leaving devastation in their wake. The border defenses are precarious. The protagonist, Lin Sheng, is an ordinary youth from a remote border town, pure-hearted and chivalrous, possessing rare talent in swordsmanship. His core opportunity is the Maya inheritance, an ancient hidden sword tradition that abandons flashy techniques, emphasizing speed, precision, and solemnity, dedicated to protecting the people and countering the Khitan's brutal steppe martial arts and cavalry tactics.
