The Severed Fate
by 南山唐伯虎
Lin Qing has a secret. He killed someone. He buried that person himself under the locust tree on the back hill. The pit took three hours to dig, and his fingernails were full of mud. Three years later, that person patted him on the shoulder in a teahouse and said, long time no see. He turned around and saw that face. There was no tear mole at the left corner of the eye. The person he buried had one. Later he learned that it wasn't resurrection. It was her sister. Ye Xue said this while wiping blood off her sword. The sword was her sister's. The blood was her master's. She said, what my sister owes you, I'll repay. Lin Qing said, your sister didn't owe me anything. Ye Xue's hand paused. Lin Qing added, I owe her. I killed her. Ye Xue's sword stopped midair. She said, I know. Lin Qing looked at her. Ye Xue said, I just wanted to hear you say it yourself. Later someone asked Lin Qing what kind of person Ye Xue was. Lin Qing thought for a long time. He said, she doesn't drink cold tea. That cup of tea she placed on the table, from entering to leaving, she didn't take a sip. But every time she came later, she would finish it. Even if it was scalding hot.
