Harvest Homeward

In 1998, Li Suiman, a rural youth from northern China, failed the college entrance exam and headed to the provincial capital's construction site with his family's savings. From manual labor, street vending, to running a noodle shop, he saved his first pot of gold in ten years. During the 2008 financial crisis, he bucked the trend and ventured into real estate. Just when he thought he had reached the pinnacle, his partner absconded with funds, leaving millions in debt. Everyone expected him to fall, but he returned to his original noodle shop and started kneading dough again. Over two decades, he rose and fell three times, from a bowl of knife-cut noodles to a business empire, proving in the simplest way that true success is not about never falling, but about getting up after every fall, dusting yourself off, and moving forward. What sustained him was the heavy wheat field of his hometown and his mother's parting words: 'When the harvest is full, remember the way home.'
