The Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra

The Mahāprajñāpāramitā Sūtra, abbreviated as the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, is a compendium of Mahayana Buddhist Prajñāpāramitā scriptures, totaling 600 fascicles. It was translated into Chinese by the Tang dynasty monk Xuanzang from 660 to 663 CE. The sutra is divided into sixteen assemblies, recording the Buddha's teachings in four locations over sixteen sessions, including important texts like the Diamond Sutra. Its core doctrine expounds that all phenomena are empty of inherent nature and arise dependently, being illusory yet not non-existent. It takes prajñāpāramitā (perfection of wisdom) as the guiding principle for bodhisattvas to cultivate the six perfections, transcend attachments, and attain Buddhahood. Regarded as the theoretical foundation of Mahayana Buddhism, it is honored as the 'Mother of All Buddhas' and has had profound influence.
