Shipwreck and Rose
by 五道口
The story is set in a future world known as the 'Gilded Age'—the year 2157. This is an era of extreme material abundance and highly advanced technology, where humanity has conquered most physiological diseases, extending lifespans to 150 years. Artificial intelligence and biotechnology have brought social productivity to unprecedented heights. Yet beneath the surface lies a rotting abyss and a spiritual wasteland. Human society is split into two distinct worlds. The upper class, the so-called 'elite,' occupy the giant domed city 'Eden Tower,' living in a perfect world of holographic projections, virtual reality, and genetic optimization. They indulge in various gloomy and refined pleasures, having lost their direction and mast—no longer pursuing truth, justice, or beauty, left only with numb sensory stimulation and hollow self-anesthesia. The lower class dwells in the forgotten 'Ash Zone'—abandoned industrial ruins, heavily polluted land, and the struggling masses on the brink of survival. The core conflicts of the story: First, in this forgotten wasteland, can true redeemers still be born? Second, will the roars of the dead and the long cries of the mute eventually be heard?
