Awakening in Oblivion
by 五道口
The highest rule of this world (the Heavenly Dao) is not a god; it's more like an electric current that keeps turning but never moves. Karma is not simply 'do bad and get punished,' but a self-devouring cycle: the more you resist fate, your resistance itself becomes a new cause, ultimately feeding the very outcome you least desire. Thus, truly powerful people are not those who remember everything, but those who can keep moving forward even after forgetting much. The story unfolds in four stages: born with pain → live absurdly and meaninglessly → suddenly awaken in oblivion → return to the end on your own terms. To grow, you must experience pain and forgetting; to live soberly, you must endure loneliness. The protagonist is born as a 'blood infant,' cut out by his mother with a knife. He remains trapped in a cycle forever until he realizes that 'rather than desperately living, it's better to face death calmly,' and truly awakens. In the end, he no longer waits for anyone to save him and chooses to go home on his own.
