Spores slowly modify host genes, turning weak-minded individuals into "Shadow Fangs"—creatures that can hide their appearance and feed on human vitality. The government establishes a Supernatural Management Bureau to secretly recruit awakened humans to hunt Shadow Fangs, maintaining the city's facade of normalcy.
