Night Post Station: Guarding the Mountains and Rivers
by 执笔见山
On the grand map of Dayong, the northern crossing of Beidu Pass had vanished for twelve years. Pei Zhaoye, a lowly courier at a border town post station, received a military dispatch delivered by a dead man during a stormy night. He risked his life to deliver it to the pass, only to discover that what he brought was not a reinforcement order but a legally valid withdrawal order: three thousand garrison troops could retreat, but eight thousand civilians were not on the evacuation list. Twelve years ago, his father had also been convicted and executed over a military dispatch. This time, Pei Zhaoye must decide: follow the order and let the pass be erased forever, or defy the order and leave his name, reopening a road that no longer exists on the map.
