Journey to the West: Eliminating Demons and Defending the Way

The Heavenly Court decrees that four generals—Zhou Shangzuo of the East, Wang Eryou of the West, Gu Yanshang of the North, and Li Xiajing of the South—must shed their immortal bodies and descend to the mortal world to undergo tribulations. The four travel westward together to the Spirit Mountain to retrieve the lost Compass of Guidance, slaying demons and overcoming emotional obstacles along the way. After enduring eighty-one trials and facing life-and-death situations, they finally retrieve the compass, stabilize the Three Realms, and cleanse the demonic aura. Having purified their hearts and comprehended the Dao, they return to the Heavenly Court, receive their titles, and attain true enlightenment.
