The Legend of the Yuan's Fall
by 天山阳仔
Since ancient times, the rise and fall of dynasties have been determined by fate. Immortals and Buddhas descend, while demons take advantage of chaos, always distinguishing between good and evil. The Yuan dynasty rose from the northern deserts, initially achieving unification, but later emperors were foolish and officials cruel. The Yellow River frequently burst, droughts and plagues continued for years, and millions of people were displaced. Their grievances soared to the heavens. The Jade Emperor observed the mortal world and knew that the Han dynasty would be restored. He issued two heavenly decrees: one sent Penglai's Hongjinzi, Han Shantong, to the mortal world, using the stone man prophecy to spark the Red Turban rebellion as a vanguard; the other ordered the Purple Star Emperor to take the Eight-Dragon Pearl given by Maitreya and cast it into the Zhu family in Haozhou, nurturing the hidden dragon Zhu Chongba. The Western Dipankara Buddha saw that the true dragon was alone and sent his disciple, the Dragon-Taming Arhat Guo Zi, to be reborn. He would later adopt the true dragon as his godson and assist in the great cause. On the other side, the Chaos Demon King coveted the Central Plains and sent the Tibetan monk Prajna Om with a group of demon disciples to attach themselves to the Yuan court. They spread poisonous fog, refined demon banners, and were determined to cut off the dragon's aura, forever extinguishing the hope of Han revival. In between, there were gods secretly protecting and demons secretly causing disasters; there were monks hiding dragons, arhats guarding camps; there were the sufferings of displaced people and the bravery of the Red Turban uprising. All events, such as the stone man uprising, hiding in ancient temples, demon soldiers besieging Haozhou, and magical battles before the formation, followed the flow of fate. The book not only narrates the chaotic times of overthrowing the Yuan and establishing the Ming but also depicts the conflicts between immortals, Buddhas, and demons, as well as the causes and effects of past lives and reincarnation. It is offered for readers to read in their leisure time, to observe the rise and fall of millennia and distinguish the good and evil of heaven and earth.
