The Rogue Master: Liu Jing

A kung fu-skilled gangster. This is the golden age of Hong Kong's streets: lax laws, territorial disputes, street autonomy, and survival of the fittest. There is no absolute black or white, only the struggle to make a living, the warmth and coldness of human relationships, and the outcome of strength and weakness. Neon lights overpower the sky, and tenement buildings hide the filth of the streets. Workers seek two meals, thugs seek street prestige, vendors seek a stable stall, and new immigrants only seek not to be trampled. Here, kindness is a weakness, tolerance is a dead end, and only confidence and skill can protect oneself and one's peace. Liu Jing goes to Hong Kong alone, abandons school, and mingles in the streets. Knowing he is a stranger without support, he deliberately suppresses his martial arts foundation, plays dumb, and seeks a low-key survival. Facing local exclusion, territorial exploitation, and thug bullying, he retreats and endures each time, only seeking a stable life. But Mong Kok streets are never peaceful. The bully Xifei and his gang take pleasure in bullying new immigrants and extorting neighbors, repeatedly trampling his dignity and shattering his illusions of peace.
