Kunlun Mirror: The Sacred Beast Chronicles of the Nine Provinces

The sky above Kunlun Mirror is not a true firmament. It is a dome of cyan-golden cards, pieced together from countless cards, with intricate patterns of coiling dragons, clouds, thunder, and six-line hexagrams flowing on the cyan surface. The patterns radiate from the center of the dome, spread outward, then fold back, continuously scanning every inch of land below. Simplified emblems of the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise at the four corners flicker alternately according to the time of day. Directly beneath the dome floats an armillary compass, with nine concentric wheels rotating at different speeds and directions, bearing star fields, Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches... nine layers stacked together. Bronze chains hang from the edge of the compass, penetrating the Kunlun Altar a hundred zhang below, reaching straight to the Nine Provinces. The Kunlun Altar is a white jade circular altar thirty zhang in diameter, its surface carved with a twelve-zodiac wheel and a miniature map of the Nine Provinces' mountains and rivers. At the center of the altar stands the Kunlun Ancient Mirror—an oval bronze mirror fifteen feet high, its surface deep cyan like a pool, reflecting in real time the spiritual veins and weather of each province: the water level of the Ji River, the drought in Jingzhou, the anomalies in mineral veins, all presented in miniature images. Below the altar, clouds surge, interweaving cyan-white and warm ochre, obscuring the chaotic terrain, only faintly revealing the outlines of the Nine Provinces through the spiritual light at the ends of the chains—Yanzhou's Ji River like a silver thread, Jingzhou's scorched ruins, Liangzhou's mountain ridges like beast spines.
