Wings of Quantum
by 玄量侯
In 2105, a blast at the Dunhuang Lab sends A Chao scrambling to push Mudan into the escape pod, only to turn around and see himself holding a bronze sword—this is his 79th reincarnation. The tomb keeper says civilization must reset at the quantum singularity, and only 'pure' civilizations survive; the observer says the 79 resets are fated, and no one can change the script. But A Chao refuses to comply: the quantum emblem on his chest burns, he clutches the bronze gear left by A Ping, and stares at the violet brand on Mudan's nape—the sacrifice mark carved by the tomb keeper, and his sole obsession across these 79 cycles. From the black domain of the Mars pyramid to the closed loop of time amber, A Chao stops being an observer recording civilizations: he smashes the terminal in the observation tower, burns the code of the reset protocol, and even if the universe collapses, he wants to preserve the apricot blossoms of Dunhuang, the street noodles, and Mudan's unfinished words: 'I choose you.' For the 79th time, he writes not an observation log, but the path chosen by civilization itself.
