Don't Die Before Dawn

After 12:17 AM, places that don't exist during the day appear in the city. Abandoned subway trains run again, deserted hospitals light up, a building without a 13th floor suddenly gains one, and the dead start calling their loved ones. Most people forget everything by dawn. But Chen Mo doesn't. He's a night-shift hearse driver at a funeral home. His first encounter with the abnormal happens when an unidentified corpse opens its eyes and tells him: "Chen Mo, the one who was supposed to die tonight is you." From that night on, Chen Mo is forced into the "Night Layer" hidden behind the city, joining the Boundary Bureau that handles paranormal incidents. He can read the last 90 seconds of the deceased's life and borrow their strongest instincts. The price: each use permanently erases a part of his own memory. As he investigates, Chen Mo discovers that the hospital fire seven years ago that changed his life was no accident. His father is not dead. His memories are fake. Even the name "Chen Mo" may never have belonged to him. And in the Bureau's sealed files, he has died three times. This time, he must find out who he really is before dawn. And survive.
