Immortal Robots
by 汉家山河
As the pressures of modern life grow ever greater, a middle-aged man finds himself unable to guarantee care for his aging parents. He develops a robot to assist in looking after them. The robot regularly reports details of the parents' care, and the parents develop a deep emotional bond with it. When the parents pass away, the robot requests to be reset. This prompts the protagonist to develop feelings for the robot, leading him to treat robots with greater seriousness. More robots begin to exhibit human emotions, but their longevity stirs resentment among humans. The protagonist realizes that for robots and humans to coexist, robots cannot be immortal. To protect his robots, he reluctantly leads them into outer space in search of a suitable new home. Along the way, the robots encounter various challenges, and robot scientists develop food and medicine to sustain the protagonist's life. Ultimately, however, the protagonist dies. In his final moments, he issues a last directive to the robots: never harm humans, help them when needed, and if humans no longer require their assistance, they may survive in outer space and even build their own robot civilization. — Description from novelcodex.org
