Peace Is the Miracle
by 空山居士
Lin Ansheng is dying in a car crash, but is reborn on the night of a flood when he was seven. He gradually discovers that he is not a chosen one, but a "born vessel"—someone uses "contracts" and anchors to transfer misfortune onto him in exchange for family prosperity. The apparent mastermind, Gu Xuanzhou, under the guise of a philanthropist, maintains a century-old "disaster transfer" industry chain. Lin Ansheng has no cheat codes; his only trump cards are "enduring" and "calculating accurately": he saves people to reduce the backlash, records and verifies patterns, and plants undercover agents in reverse. Su Wanqing is implanted with a memory anchor and unknowingly becomes an information channel; Zhao Lei moves from jealous betrayal to atonement and martyrdom. Lin Ansheng collects all the contract vessels and, through the sincere repentance of the Gu bloodline, completes the contract-breaking, returning all calamities to their rightful place. But just when he thinks everything is settled, a strange handwriting appears on the last page of an old diary: "Do you think I'm the only one?" It turns out Gu Xuanzhou is merely an executor; above him are contract supervisors and hidden lines. Lin Ansheng investigates the Contract Supervision Hall, deduces the ultimate contract-breaking formation, and ultimately forces the hidden lines to retreat by publicizing the truth. Ten years later, the lights on the top floor of the building across the street come on again. He stands by the window and writes: "Whatever you are, come. I'm here." The story concludes with warm reconstruction and unsettling blanks left for thought. — Description from novelcodex.org
