No Gods in Shenzhen
by 墨手成鬼
Chen Yan is thirty-five and works three jobs in Shenzhen. Sorting parcels before dawn, freight forwarding by day, designated driving at night. Rent, dialysis fees, and his daughter's school placement have him pinned in this city. A shipment of returned, unclaimed goods leads him to a warm blood jade and a crippled cultivation art that feeds on blood. He no longer feels sleepy, can smell blood, and can lift four boxes with one hand. The price is that he has to feed. He sets three rules for himself: don't kill, don't touch children, remember every person's name. He thinks he is cultivating immortality. Only later does he understand that this art is called Borrowing Life. — Description from novelcodex.org
