This adaptation mainly swaps the roles of Tang Seng and his three disciples: Zhu Wuneng replaces Sun Wukong, Sha Heshang replaces Tang Seng, Sun Wukong replaces Sha Heshang, and Tang Seng replaces Zhu Wuneng. In adapting this work, the traditional character labels and narrative conventions of Journey to the West have been updated, reconstructing the story's perspective with entirely new roles and exploring the diverse artistic charm of the classic work. Through this adaptation, the role reversal among the master and three disciples creates story contrast and tension, allowing the classic tale to radiate new vitality and room for influence.
