The Sand Replaces Loulan
by 孤野横舟
Late at night in Lop Nur, the archaeological team encounters a sandstorm. The next day, the camp has disappeared, and in its place, an unrecorded ancient city of Loulan has appeared. Soon after, the team members begin to show abnormalities: Old Chen's old scar on his wrist starts to shed sand grains, Little Zhou no longer stutters when speaking, and his Adam's apple doesn't move when he drinks water. Shen Yan flips through his father's relic notes and finds two sand-yellow characters inexplicably added to the title page: "Run." The sand is turning into the people around them, replacing one every seven days. Shen Yan has an old notebook of his father's. Whoever's name is written in it, if the name turns yellow, that person is a substitute. But he didn't expect that each time he tests, one-seventh of his own name would also turn yellow. After seven uses, he himself will turn into a handful of yellow sand. And his father, who disappeared twenty years ago, seems to have experienced all of this long ago. — Description from novelcodex.org
