Three Days Ahead: I See Death
by 雪落血月
Chen Mo, 27, a subway security screener, was just fired yesterday. He has a pair of "unclean" eyes—every three days, he sees a disaster that will inevitably occur within three days: a girl in a sun hat killed by a mall escalator, a viaduct collapsing, a fully loaded bus plunging into a gap. He calls the police, but no one believes him; he rushes to save people, but for each one he saves, another death face replaces it. He gradually understands that most of these "natural disasters" are not natural—they are "debts" designed to look like accidents. And the people who design these debts hold a "register," and everyone on it who can "see" is called a "Clock." He is number X. The more he saves, the more memories he loses. Until he discovers that the death his mother took for him thirty years ago was not an accident—someone wrote "her" and him into the register together. Holding the old clock that has known its direction since he was thirteen, he walks step by step toward the clock tower in the deepest part of the city. —You are not here to save people. You are here to take over the clock that has been struck for your mother for thirty years. — Description from novelcodex.org
