Basketball Development System
by Loopty_Loop88
Fergus Robertson has one ridiculous dream. He wants to become an NBA player. There are only a few problems. He lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, which has produced almost no NBA talent; his family can barely afford the costs of school basketball, and, most importantly, Fergus isn’t particularly good. After failing to make his school team the year before, Fergus spends his summer doing the only thing he knows how to do: working. He practises alone, studies players far better than him and stubbornly chases a dream that everyone else considers impossible. Then the Basketball Development System appears. It doesn’t give him perfect shooting, superhuman athleticism or automatic victories. Instead, it gives Fergus something he has never had before: direction. Through skills, missions, milestones, Hooper Coins, and a vast Skill Library, the System can teach him how basketball works and show him paths towards improving. Understanding, however, is not mastery. Fergus still has to train, fail, develop physically, and prove everything on the court himself. His journey begins with a much smaller goal than the NBA: making Wallace Memorial’s basketball team. Under former professional player Andrew McKenzie, Fergus enters competitive basketball as an undersized, defence-first bench player surrounded by teammates who are stronger, more talented, and more experienced than him. Every practice exposes another weakness, every opponent presents a new problem, and every improvement only reveals how much farther he still has to go. From fighting for minutes to fighting for starts, from school gyms in Edinburgh to wherever basketball may eventually take him, Fergus will have to build himself one skill at a time. The System can show him the path. Walking it is up to him. And the NBA is still a very long way away. — Description from novelcodex.org
