Does Even a Good-for-Nothing Have to Go Catch Demons?

【Clever and Playful Young Miss × Cheerful, Carefree Young Master】 There are two good-for-nothings in Canglan City. Chu Sui, the young miss of the Chu family, has an extremely low-grade spiritual root. She has been practicing the most basic sword techniques for three years, yet her movements are still crooked and clumsy. And yet, her entire family dotes on her as though she were the apple of their eye. Yan Xu, the playboy young master of the Yan family, draws talismans that look like nothing more than scribbles, spends all day swaggering around with a wine flask in hand, and has a notoriously sharp tongue. His greatest joy is arguing with Chu Sui. “Yan Shisan, did you steal my candied hawthorn again?” “Chu Qi, you call that candied hawthorn? The sugar has already melted all over your sleeve.” Whenever the two of them meet, they are bound to start bickering. Neither is willing to yield to the other. Every year, during the Immortal Cultivation Tournament, one comes in dead last and the other comes in second-to-last. Yet somehow, neither can ever beat the other. Their battles are so disastrously pathetic that the spectators want to chip in money to buy them better magical weapons. When the barrier between the demon realm and the human world begins to weaken and the seven ancient demon beasts emerge into the world, the various great clans form demon-slaying teams. Chu Sui rolls up her sleeves and eagerly prepares to join. Yan Xu, for some inexplicable reason, actually follows her. “What are you doing here? Are you even forming a group to go die?” “I was worried that if you died, there’d be no one left to compete with me for second-to-last place.” Others rely on cultivation to subdue demons. The two of them rely on luck. Others slay demons and vanquish evil. The two of them spend the entire journey sabotaging and saving each other in equal measure.
