Dungeons appeared all over the world, and no one knows where they came from. Instead of fighting them, the corporations turned them into an industry. Now clearing dungeons is a regular job, and everyone relies on an AI companion to tell them exactly how to do it. Nobody really thinks anymore. They don't have to. Jon is a nobody. No rank, no gear, no AI. What he does have is common sense — he does the logical, obvious thing everyone else ignores, because their AI never told them to. And it turns out the whole system was built on the assumption that no one would ever stop and think for themselves. So when Jon does, it falls apart in his hands.
