In order to compete you would have to get the translation rights from them or do it illegally but that would mean either loosing money or just getting sued & DMCA'd to death. So thats that, oh and the last part was exactly what was happening with all these volunteer sites that were translating qidian novels. WN nowadays makes money by getting good enough quality translation for first 40 chapters that are teaser chapters/free, and then uses MTL for rest so people are hooked on the story and still pay tons of money to read until they cant understand MTL quality anymore. true, I've read a LOT of reviews about only the first 40 chapters being translated properly and it is just bizarre!
