I Hate Overpowered Main Characters Who Act Like Self-Righteous Saints.
by Unknown
The male lead was the exact type he hated most not only did he enjoy a happy family and extraordinary talent, but he was also an ultimate, extreme saintly figure. Whenever he saw an injustice, he felt compelled to draw his sword and help, creating endless trouble for himself. Even if someone had bullied or mistreated him, he would still show mercy and charitably forgive them, making Jiang Xing fume with bottled-up rage as he read. The only reason Jiang Xing managed to push through the book was that he projected himself into the villain’s perspective. Every time the villain tripped up the protagonist, he felt a secret spark of pleasure, desperately wishing the villain would hurry up and finish off the protagonist once and for all. However, after dying suddenly from overwork, he unexpectedly transmigrated into this very book as an obscure extra (mob character). Finding himself in a party marching to crusade against demons, he quickly located the story’s ultimate saintly male lead, Zishu Bai. True to form, the guy was busy being overly generous, inviting weak disciples to join his demon-slaying squad. Jiang Xing sneered in disdain, turned around, and immediately joined the team of the villain he so admired. Yet, as soon as they encountered a demon, he was kicked right out by the villain to serve as cannon fodder. Dying a tragic death under the demon’s claws, Jiang Xing ground his teeth in pure hatred only to open his eyes and realize he had been reborn. Relying on his golden-finger rebirth capability, he resolved to carve out his own career and seek revenge, only to be instantly killed by a demon yet again. By his tenth repeated rebirth, it suddenly clicked for him: without the protagonist’s halo protecting him, an extra’s fate is death, plain and simple. Left with no choice, Jiang Xing had to join the protagonist’s squad. Zishu Bai greeted him with a gentle smile, lightly taking his hand. “I will help you.” From that moment on, Zishu Bai raised his sword to shield Jiang Xing, slaying every spirit and demon they encountered, never letting even half a drop of blood stain Jiang Xing. Yet none of this touched Jiang Xing’s heart. He still betrayed Zishu Bai, driving a sword straight through his heart just to teach this damn saint a lesson and prove that life doesn’t always go so smoothly. Zishu Bai died in disbelief, his eyes fixed on Jiang Xing until the very end as if begging for an answer, though his throat choked full of blood. The next moment, Jiang Xing was reborn once more. Before his eyes was still the very first day of party recruitment. Zishu Bai stood in the center of the crowd from afar, while Jiang Xing stood outside the gathering. Cold horror gripped his entire body as he clearly saw Zishu Bai’s gaze slice through the crowd, looking straight at him. Cold, sunken, obsidian-black eyes an expression Jiang Xing had never once seen on his face before. His heart stopped. Zishu Bai… seemed to have been reborn too. If asked whether Jiang Xing had ever regretted anything in his life, what he regretted most was definitely that he shouldn’t have delivered that single sword strike. He knew he was wrong. He truly, genuinely knew he was wrong now. Bent, flipped, and handled every which way, bullied until his face was drenched in tears and his mind went hazy, Jiang Xing felt true remorse for the first time. Begging for mercy, playing the victim, acting pitiful none of it worked anymore. Zishu Bai was going to break him. — Description from novelcodex.org
