I Won Over My Shifu by Playing the Victim and Acting Innocent
by 不周来风
A pure-hearted fox who talks a big game × a gentle, cunning shifu who sees through him but says nothing From the protagonist’s perspective: Shen Shu transmigrated into a cultivation world and was hunted down the moment he landed. His pursuer was far too powerful. After running three laps without shaking him off, Shen Shu finally dropped to his knees, his eyes reddening as he clung to the man’s trouser leg with a pleading look. “Please don’t kill me.” The other man’s sword clattered to the ground. Only later did Shen Shu discover that he’d awakened a fox spirit’s power: if he played the victim and acted all sweet and innocent, he could keep his opponent completely under his thumb. Fine. He’d cry if he had to. He’d throw all dignity to the wind. To stay alive, Shen Shu became the man’s disciple, then immediately threw himself into his shifu’s arms and played the helpless little victim. Everyone thought he was a weak, manipulative coward. Only his shifu believed his nonsense. So when his shifu promised to protect him for the rest of his life, Shen Shu gradually let down his guard, tucked away his fox tail, and tried to trust him. As the days and months passed, Shen Shu held his sword tassel in his hands and finally decided to give him his whole heart. Then he overheard the truth behind his shifu’s kind words: “All that remains is for Shen Shu to willingly submit to body possession. Then the fox demon’s soul can be brought back.” So those compassionate eyes had only been shedding crocodile tears. Forget it, then. Act obedient? Like hell. From the love interest’s perspective: After the little fox demon Wen Zhuo had raised died, he seemed to become a different person. He kept everyone at arm’s length, hid a blade behind his smile, and often vanished for years at a time. Then he brought home Shen Shu, whose eyes looked much like those of the fox demon lying dead in the ice coffin. Wen Zhuo treated him better than anyone else. But the disciple he’d taken in went mad and seized control of the sect. Wen Zhuo’s powers were sealed, and he was reduced to the man’s bedmate. Everyone thought Wen Zhuo must hate the ungrateful wretch with all his heart. Did he? Behind the red bed curtains, with the lamplight flickering, Wen Zhuo lay bound from head to toe in red cords. He played along, resisting Shen Shu and, his eyes full of affection, rebuking him for defying his master and repaying kindness with betrayal. But in his heart, he was thinking: “You’re as beautiful as you were a hundred years ago.” “No matter how much you resent me this time, I won’t let you go again.” — Description from novelcodex.org
