Mad Engagement

Everyone said Jett Westgate was insane. The most powerful magnate of Aethelgard, insisting on forcibly marrying Veridia’s esteemed socialite, Annelise Valentine. Unexpectedly, the two had a major falling out on the day of their engagement party. He sneered, “The pinnacle of heiresses? Hah, besides splurging your family’s money, what else can you do?” She turned and sank his limited-edition supercar into the Azure River, “I can teach you a lesson.” And so, the daily life of high society became a spectacle of watching two lunatics in an epic showdown. He sabotaged her romantic prospects; she ruined his business deals. He gifted a mansion to a female companion; she chartered a yacht filled with male models. A back-and-forth battle, filled with hidden daggers and flashing swords. Yet, their engagement remained as stable as Mount Tai, becoming the year’s greatest unsolved mystery. What was even more thrilling was that everyone in their circle knew—Annelise Valentine’s childhood sweetheart, Zane Patterson, had loved her for fifteen years, a widely acknowledged tale of unfulfilled love in their circle. Everyone was betting that Annelise Valentine would eventually break off the engagement for Zane Patterson; this forced union wouldn’t last. But Jett Westgate refused to accept his fate. Late at night, he smashed open her door, pinned her against the wall, and kissed her fiercely:”Admit it. You can’t marry him, and you can’t escape me.” In the throes of their desperate passion, he nibbled her earlobe and warned in a hoarse voice:”In this lifetime, the only one who can make you cry… is me.” Later, the once impossibly arrogant Crown Prince shoved a gun into her hand, pressed the muzzle against his own heart, and when he looked up, his eyes were bloodshot:”Baby, shoot me if you want, I’ll even let you play me to death, I just beg you not to leave me.” — Description from novelcodex.orgFull novel: Mad Engagement — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org
