Meager Power

Having spent nearly three decades on earth, our protagonist perishes in an unfortunate accident. Her fleeting soul is whisked away by a god who doesn't even deign to speak to her, forced to participate in a world-spanning "game" with likely deadly stakes. Dropped into a world with irritatingly opaque game-like mechanics with only her wit and her tenacity, the newly reborn Allison will be forced to come to terms with who she is, what she is, what she's willing to do, and how difficult it is to achieve her goals. Can she overcome these odds and steal a life worth living, while dodging the other participants? Not everything is bad - she's healthy, has at least the basics to start with, and hey, there's magic! And some sort of system that seems like it might guide her. Somehow. Meager Power is a very slow burning story of a protagonist that will endure hardship, challenges, and growth, but also will be peppered with realistic humor, accomplishments, and the occasional explicit tryst, though far more sparingly than most stories with it involved. Inspired by countless works and invariably stealing from all of them, there will be similarities with other media. I like long stories focused on character growth (literal and emotional), plot, relationships (sexual and non-), and most of all, believable characters. I'll be doing my best to write people that aren't just stereotypes or archetypes. This story will not shy away from sensitive topics like the discussion of trauma, practices like slavery, and graphic depictions of violence (like blood and injuries). Please be forewarned.
