Risky Bet

Sometimes life gives you lemons. Sometimes it puts you in a cocktail dress and sits you across a poker table from the Devil with your future in the ante. Last September, Daniel was a junior at UCLA with a men's track scholarship and a plan. Now she's Joy, because something decided his old life wasn't nearly exciting enough. She lost her roster spot, her scholarship, and every pair of shoes that fit. She needs a hundred thousand dollars by June, and her résumé begins and ends with some college. What she got in exchange is luck. Sometimes it helps. More often it drops her into the most improbable situation available, breaks out the popcorn, and watches what happens. On top of classes, Joy is contending with evil trees, amorous fox spirits, and an ancient Chinese sorcerer with a lair under an old Taco Bell. In this LA the supernatural is mundane, but the risks to life and limb are very real. But Joy is fast, she’s charming, she can read a table in about four seconds, and she has never once walked away from a coin flip. Tuition’s due either way. — Description from novelcodex.orgFull novel: Risky Bet — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org
