Sacrificed To The Cursed Lycan King
by Nyx_Rae
“How does it feel to be spread beneath the man your family feared enough to sacrifice you to, little wolf?” His voice was a dark purr against my ear, his body pressing me into the mattress, his hips rolling against mine with a slow, deliberate cruelty. “Your father begged for peace. I gave him my word I wouldn’t destroy your bloodline.” His fingers tangled in my hair, tilting my head back. “But I never promised I’d be kind to the wolfless daughter he sent in her place.” I bit my lip to stifle the moan threatening to escape as his thigh forced mine apart, his hardness pressing against me, demanding. My body arched into him despite myself, my breath coming in ragged gasps. “I-I’m your wife now, King Vaelric,” I whispered, the words trembling. A dark chuckle vibrated against my skin as his hand slid up my thigh, his grip possessive, unyielding. “Wife? You’re no wife of mine, Elyra.” His hand tightened around my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes. There was no warmth in them. No tenderness. Only that terrifying amusement that had appeared the moment I defied him. “You still don't understand, do you?” I frowned. “Understand what?” His mouth curved into a slow, merciless smile. “Your father didn't send me a bride, Elyra.” He leaned closer. “He sent me a sacrifice.”**********She was supposed to be the sacrifice. When the Lycan King demands a bride from the Veyrith bloodline, everyone knows which daughter he wants. Elowen… the beautiful, powerful one. The daughter worthy of a king. But the night before the wedding, her father makes a different choice. He sends her wolfless sister in her place. Elyra Veyrith has spent her entire life being treated as the family's greatest shame. Born without a wolf, she is useless in a world where strength determines worth. So when her father tells her she will be marrying the most feared Lycan alive, she knows exactly what she's being sent to do. Die. Vaelric Draeven doesn't want a wife. He wants an heir, and when he discovers the woman standing before him isn't the bride he was promised, he should send her straight back. Instead, he keeps her. Cold. Merciless. Untouchable, the Lycan King expects his new bride to tremble whenever he enters a room. Elyra refuses. “You may be a king,” she says, meeting his eyes, “but that doesn't make you my master.” Silence. Everyone around them freezes, Vaelric slowly turns toward her. “You understand who you're speaking to?” “I do.” “And yet you continue?” Elyra lifts her chin. “I'd rather die than spend my life kneeling to a man who thinks fear is the same thing as respect.” For a moment, there is nothing but silence. Then the corner of Vaelric's mouth lifts, a slow, dangerous smirk. “Finally.” His eyes drag over her face, fascination replacing the cold indifference that had been there moments ago. “A bride with teeth.” Elyra doesn't know it yet, but her defiance has just made her far more interesting to the Lycan King than the sister she was sacrificed to replace. And when an assassination attempt exposes the truth about Elyra's birth, Vaelric discovers the wolfless girl his kingdom considers worthless may be the most dangerous creature ever born into it. — Description from novelcodex.org
